ho boy...the very latest in wet-dream architecture. But obviously, people can't get enough of it; my hero, my guru, yata yata. There is no big imagination here, just the increasingly predictable product of a rather unique, ego-driven design process, the reflection of an aesthetically bankrupt design culture. Imagination is what it takes to see beyond this to a future architecture where arbitrary sculpting has no place, where material, context, and form are perfectly merged in a subtle symphony of built environment. Take us there, Spartacus, there is not a moment to loose.

Zaha Hadid’s buildings are absolutely saturated in her ego. Every inch is part of her vision, there’s no relief, no where to breath. I also feel like she is not genuine. I believe her buildings are attempts at being really cool or futuristic or alienating, or just wierd. She isn’t really being herself, showing us a vision that is intimate. She is trying to be as loud and as new and different as she can, so that her ego is pumped up as large as it can be. Paradoxically, all this grandstanding leaves her building looking lonely, de-humanized, because there isn't a real human heart involved in making them. That said, I like her work a lot and am always excited to see what she is doing. I just don't love it.

architectural greatness has been stereotyped as having the presence of flaring facades or the dynamic form that seem to defy the norms of construction. this work is undoubtedly stunning in form and striking in presence..however its greatness is only to be judged in a latter stage, where one has gone beyond pure aesthetics and visual stimulation. there is more to a building than just the facade. after all architecture is careful manipulation of space. at the end of the day its still the functional spaces that matter.

I am presently working this year in the UAE with the Abu Dhabi Education Council in an administrative capacity focusing on educational reform. My background/experience is both administrative with a Fine Arts focus. I would like to discuss the possiblity of working within the development and implementation of this project to position myself in an administrative role with the Performing Arts Centre upon the completion of this phenomenol opportunity. I have researched and developed a proposal for an "Emirates International School of Fine Arts" that would blend nicely with the "idea" of an Academy of Fine Arts and would be very interested to share this proposal with someone in anticipation of linking world class education in the Fine Arts field in a global context. I also have an idea as well as the personal contacts to network the practical componenet of this Fine Arts Academy with a high profile film production company in Hollywood California. This could be very exciting. Please respond with the contact of the board/people to whom I could share this proposal.

Sincerely,
