There are attractive features in all the designs. The Marks Barfield entry showed most awareness of how the pavilion can facilitate input from people in Britain and China. Trees serve both as a rich metaphor and as a stimulating principle on which to organise content. There should be input from people in China (and elsewhere) as well as in Britain before as well as during the Expo.

Ideally, a significant stream of visitors will come to the British Pavilion because they have already engaged imaginatively with it. They will spread interest in the pavilion before and after their visit (or repeat visits) by word of mouth and emails to friends and their own professional colleagues. The watchword should be "participants not spectators".

I think that Ribbon of Culture by EIGHT seems too Finnish, sinuous, for a British pavilion. I think it would not represent, image wise, Britain. Although I love the concept.

Even though I agree with Reamon Yu in that Heatherwick Studio's proposal is kind of normal, It's the one I like the most, the one that going to impact the visitor in more levels of perception, with a more lasting impression of what British architecture is about.

Oh, no, see the image here by Heatherwick Studio , my impression of this design is fading off. The outer space is just too ' normal'...
