Urban Slash have sent me some pictures of proposed schemes for Birnbeck Island and have given me four days to comment. My only comment is that they are wasting everybody's time by failing to set up a realistic design competition. Unless you have experienced that bit of coast in a strong on-shore wind during an equinoctial high tide, you will never be able to imagine the sheer power of the elements when you are exposed to the full force and fury of the Atlatic Ocean. Most of the schemes would last less than half an hour. The remaining one looks like a nuclear reactor. And these are the best six out of a hundred submissions? Mike Rogers.
