The TransNeomatic bowl by the Campana Brothers shown here is a prototype made with a new tire (there is a local regulation for importing/exporting tires, and the prototype would not reach its destination).

The actual pieces are made with used tires.

I was really excited to stumble upon this show. I hate waste and have an incredibly strong desire to “rescue” furniture and other trash on the roadside, to my husband’s dismay. It’s nice to see work like this being made.

Their TransNeomatic bowls are produced in Vietman and combine traditional woven wicker techniques with used scooter tyres rescued from landfill sites.

Those tires look brand-new. They still have the mould artifacts on them. It looks lovely and all that, but is that really fair?

There is some great stuff here. I really dig the “double chair” and that table lamp. Pretty sweet.
