Strange, otherworldly, yet also playful and even thoughtful/thought-provoking. They're beyond comparisons to Maarten Baas' Clay furniture... something more akin to Tim Burton's visions... There is anyhow a definite sense of humour present. The Rossana Orlandi show was, for me, one of the gems of this year's Salone. Live, these pieces are as disturbing as they are intriguing. As an art installation it's maybe interesting; as furniture it's shoddy and poorly thought through. A shame, because the idea of a chair or sofa that connects to a private "cave" is fantastic-- but the cave would at least need to be comfortable and easy to slip into.
