It is so insane how Jamie Hayon’s forms and lines are getting, lets say, ‘absorbed,’ by everyone- People need to take a break from doing this leg/column/stool form!

There must be something else that can be done that doesn’t evoke Jamie’s language-

Crate and Barell here in the US, Marcel Wanders, the Future Perfect Collection in Brooklyn- half of the design community is making cylindrical stacks like this!

oof come up with your own formal language, whatever your concept is…

I just don’t get the beat-down mentality of this site. If it was intelligent observation then OK.

Fling from my perspective thats what i love most about a stool it can be anything all the objects you mention seem to be stools – eames – elephant, max bill – ulmer hocker or that concreate rock by kram and someone????

Is there a more pointless furniture item than the stool? It is basically the something upon which you can plant your ass. What constitutes a stool? Something within a bandwidth height of somebody squatting. They are not even comfortable. Anything that conforms to this can be a stool. A box, a rock, a table, a big ball, a dog, a car tyre, a prize marrow, an industrial cheese, a carved elephant.

sorry but beautiful shapes are possible with a lathe but unfortunately these are very unimaginitive. He seems to be making them up as he goes along – they dont work as a set for me.
interesting material though
