Your confusion is perfectly understandable because this 'potential' technology has been presented and packaged as a fully realised consumer product - a presentation that any reasonable person would not even consider until its supposed technological function actually worked. To wit: conceptual designers are not reasonable persons. It doesn't work, has no relevance to safety (because it doesn't work) and is probably not for sale, except perhaps as exhibition material for a design museum.
