Yet I was totally put off by the feature videos of "Quinze at work" "Quinze destroying an old hotel in a ridiculous american biker-costume", and then later to see that the show was displayed in his studio, (called 'Gallery' 311" but come on...) where all the works were sitting above his "signature paint splashes". Those paint splashes are like a marketers idea of what an 'artist' is and I think say alot about him. But Quinze is just a guy with a lot of money, wanting attention. Nothing wrong with that. What I find disturbing is the fact that Gestalten,- a pretty creative, nimble publisher in design (one of the important ones) seesms to have lost all sense of critique and just offered some part of their staff to join Quinze's marketing Army.. How sad! The Fragiles show was excellent for demonstrating an emerging way of working, but failed when it became overly-focused on one of the participants. We need smart authors, and publishers.
