I like Fukasawa a lot, but his coat rack is a copy!

Check this out:

http://www.artificial.de/index2.php?app=kategorie&mod=produktdetail&kategorieid=10&produktid=47&start=&menu_id=98

It's been designed by thomas jelinek and sold as a commercial product for at least 5 years.

Bad thing about simple ideas is that usually somebody had the same idea before.

Fukasawa is top notch. Morrison's design is simply taking lazy advantage of his established name, Newson has nothing new to say, surely the world must be over his soft curves by now. Grcic disappoints too.

K. Grcic make a really bad design, like Christophe Pillet, it´s sad. And in this exhibition, i like the Jongerius´s work, ¡ it´s amazing!

I hope Morrison and fukasawa are making a critical statement against 'gallery design' by producing works that are so blindingly simple to make at home, they are rendered almost worthless to anyone except the collector.

Or maybe they are just super lazy

most of these designers built their reputations creating beautiful objects in response to practical constraints. that's what they're really good at. take away the practical stuff and you're left with rather sad and empty objects. pretty, but so what.

there are designers and artists who specialise in developing beautiful objects in response to intellectual constraints, but they are not famous or trendy, and therefore, might take more effort to sell ... the above designers should stick to what they are good at, and leave the world of conceptual design to those who know what they are doing.
