Maybe the cup holder should have been made from cardboard which could then be recycled? Although this still doesn't really solve the problem as a seperate cup is still required.

It was not until I reached the crisis chocolate that I perked up. I like a pleasurable experience that intensifies over time.

I'd agree with the comment on the cup holder. Not only have we seen this type of commentary where the designer is trying to take disposable goods out of context, but instead this designer has made a mockery of the actual values he is pretending to aspire to. I couldn't agree more with the comment by Morgan geist:
"addressing behaviour and social scenarios where disposable items are used".
Why does this designer even think people use plastic cups? They are not using them sitting at home! So are you expected to carry this plasticated monstrosity to festivals or events with you? As a designer who cannot afford the luxury of an MA at the RCA I'm really appalled by this particular project, stop wasting this opportunity! COME ON!!

" 'Less good objects’ is a project which attempts to create satisfying design objects that simply lack function", isn't this an elaborate way of saying art or sculpture? Come on, don't be too full of your self that you have to beat around the facts like that. there is nothing wrong about art for arts sake...

.
Hello this is Morgan

Nothing much to see here, and so, nothing to say...

Except. The Flat Out, the plastic cup holder. The amount of acrylic wasted (pictured above) is horrific. This makes very little sense and by no means supports the idea of prolonging the life cycle around disposable objects. Lets not even start on the sharp edges, ergonomics and flimsy hook on top of the cup.
I feel the life cycle of the cup holder is only marginally longer than that of the cup itself, also it is much more expensive and wasteful.
We created disposable products for convenience, now design is fighting back. Designers need to do this in an intelligent way, by addressing behaviour and social scenarios where disposable items are used. Research needs to be done in the systems (environmental, social and economic) that are around these objects, not just "one-liner" solutions.

Yours,

Morgan Geist

Don't really know how or why, but those shoes on the second image freaked me out.

Everything else is just.... I don't know, but the products didn't really appeal me in any way - bad or good.
