What a useless exercise! talking of exercise, why not rather put pedals in front, like an exercise bike,that way you get exercise while you sit and read and actually work for it without the headache. oh no, its been done before, damn. Okay, i see the logic then!

It appears that the main body of the chair is to be seamless, i’d love to see how they intend to form that piece (or pieces). I love the lines but have to agree with the discomfort issues pointed out (reading and rocking, no arms), perhaps a second study could iron out those details…

I have a dynamo flashlight, much smaller than this novelty contraption. If the chair could illuminate a book using the heat from your body I would be impressed.

Does it require this level of sleek discomfort to address the issue energetic self-sufficiency? I will certainly not entertain the idea of a reading chair without arm rests!

Sounds like this discussion is the whole point of designing it in the first place. One that note, this chair should probably not be made using plastic components (some of which are unnecessary, such as the dynamo mechanism casing). Plastic is oil, after all.

As with some here, I’m also skeptical about the practicality of this rocking chair to power the light for reading. I will seriously have a headache having to rock and read at the same time.

Mechanics aside, the chair does look very appealing itself and will do well without being a rocking chair fussed with unnecessary devices.

The rendering also looked great !

When i got this chair,i took out the reading lights and put it on my workstation because it looks nice as a standalone object.I wondered,why they didn’t hide the red and blue wires because it was disturbing the sleek looks of the chair.After that, I took out the big dynamo and begin staring at the chair again.It’s nicer :p

ignorant really. All the energy used to create this chair would be much much much more than the amount of energy you are going to use for that LED during your usage of the chair.
One of the most naive projects i have seen for a while.
