andrew is right. what an awesome use of resources and truly a technical achievement for our modern world. those rendering are so poetic, and truly puts the user on the polo field.

as a HUGE polo fan and player, my current stable includes several pure breeds from the finest aradian lineage which is right next to my classic car collection and my private botanical garden, this giant golden dome would be like a beacon calling me for a refreshing post-match glass of celebratory nectar. then my mates and i can share stories of who smashed the best goals on the day. say what you will, but polo is not a sport for children, unlike hailai.

mr dixon is obviously heaps above and years ahead the rest of the global design community in this proposal, and for that, i stand tall, poor a glass of Veuve Clicquot and salute him. i only fear he won't be able to surpass this crowning achievement on his next projects for Burger King, Coors, or Goodyear tires.

Sorry, I wasn't clear...too cynical I think.

I don't have a problem with corporate patronage. Architecture (or the making of shelter, in this case) is not possible without capital. The comment about the folding tables was meant as a criticism towards the design of the "pavilion" in that it is so generic, it barely seems to fulfill any requirements of program (sun-shade? Maybe).

Instead, Dixon has proposed a mundane, material-less quarter-geodesic dome. I'm disappointed, is all. Not that my opinion matters that much :^)

sorry Andrew, I don't understand, I get the impression from your comment that you don't like the pavilion, fair enough - but - the comment about the sponsor? Many designers, artists, writers - in fact all sorts of people rely on sponsors - athletes, charities etc, all sorts of people.

is your criticism that they will copy people/an idea or is it that they will be promoting their product? or........... is your criticism that they want to make their product more accessible to more people? im just curious

Wow, good job! Looks like some from a first semester architecture studio! Amazing. Resizing an element from a wall screen up to the scale of architecture is a novel, unprecedented, and simplistic solution. Will they use folding chairs and tables underneath the pavilion to display product or what?

i just can't see how tables & chairs could fit the dimensions of the interior space of the summer gazebo (as show in pictures above) in a "reinterpretation of classic summer" kind of way, that's why i thought of the blanket - i think its possibly a good option based on the photos of the structure above, but then maybe not every one will feel comfortable, hmm... difficult.
