Try going to the northern districts and ask the locals if a few expensive-high-brand stores have made it any easier for them to put food on the table. (shoplifting aside, I mean)

After all, the Duke of Westminster (who owns Liverpool One) cited it as the reason his ranking on the UK rich list has taken a huge battering, it already being worth a fraction of its value just 18 months ago.

That said, it is a real asset to the city.</description>
