Project Leader for Arlanda Airport Hotel
BIG is a Copenhagen-based group of architects, designers and thinkers operating within the fields of architecture, urbanism, research and development.
BIG has created a reputation for completing buildings that are programmatically and technically innovative as they are cost and resource conscious. In our architectural production we demonstrate a high sensitivity to the particular demands of contexts and mixed use programs. We are looking for a Project Leader to head up the BIG team responsible for developing the new 600 room Arlanda Airport Hotel in Stockholm.
About the project
The project is located on the highway in Arlandastad close to the Arlanda airport and measures a total of 25.000 M2, including conference facilities, parking, restaurants, spa and hotel. The hotel will be the largest in Sweden and its iconic facades will create a recognizable landmark seen from both highways and air corridors. The conference center and lobby is sunken into the landscape and the equilateral triangular footprint of the main building creates a volume with no ends, only three faces perceived as free standing two-dimensional surfaces. A small variation in the horizontal window band of each of the 600 rooms creates an abstract pattern that seen on a distance turns into crystal clear portraits of Crown Princess Victoria, Princess Madeleine and Prince Carl-Philip of Sweden. A local plan for the project is approved and the programmatic phase will begin immediately.
Duties will include:
- reporting to the Partner-in-charge of design: Andreas Klok Pedersen
- project leader for BIG’s project team
- communication with the Swedish main consultant firm
- relocating to Copenhagen, Denmark
- some travel activity to Stockholm
- essential skills:
- fluent in English, spoken and written
- fluent in Swedish, spoken and written
- detailing skills (portfolio)
- description skills
Requirement: AutoCAD
Preferred: Revit and/or Rhino
Experience:
- minimum 5-10 years of experience as an Architect
- experience as a Project Leader on a Swedish building project
- experience from a leading Swedish or international architecture bureau
