Mandarin Speaking Architect for a 3 Months’ Position in Copenhagen
We offer a highly attractive position as architect or architectural technician on several high profiled Chinese projects in one of Denmark’s most prestigious and internationally renowned architectural organisations. The position is initially limited to 3 months but extension and other employment opportunities will be available for the right candidate.
Area of Responsibility
You will be joining a dedicated team of enthusiastic colleagues to work on several Chinese engagements and you will be responsible for maintaining professional client relations and cooperate with the design team to realise our commitment to ambitious architectural projects.
Your role is key to the success of the projects. You will be responsible for filtering all relevant external communication from clients to the design team and vice versa. In your capacity of ‘cultural translator’ between Chinese client demands and in-house design competencies, you ensure that all interested parties are continuously updated on the work in progress. Your skills as architect also come into play as your take part in the design development.

Tasks:
- ongoing participation in the design team’s work in the role of architect or architectural technologist
- overall and detailed design development within budget, time schedules and governmental regulation (including quality assurance)
- develop project material and AutoCAD drawings
- ongoing telecommunication and email correspondence with clients and stakeholders in China
- translation of documents from Chinese to English and vice versa
- work as interpreter at meetings and workshops with Chinese clients and partners
- assist shl’s marketing activities in China
- contribute positively to the team spirit and external client collaboration by showing commitment, enthusiasm and proactive behaviour
About You
In your cooperation you listen and consult others to build wide organisational networks inside and outside the organisation. You demonstrate a rapid understanding of newly presented information and you act in stead of react and you take dedicated responsibility for your tasks.
You characterise yourself as a strong planner and you monitor your own and collaborators’ work against deadlines and milestones. As a person you prefer demanding goals to develop your own skills and knowledge. You take pride in applying your specialist knowledge and you demonstrate enthusiasm as work gets challenging.
You structure information to meet the needs of your audience as you convey the essence of our architectural ambition and project related challenges.
Your Qualifications:
- master’s degree in architecture or as architectural technologist
- minimum 3-5 years of professional post graduation experience – preferably in international design studios with cross-national projects (for example experience with projects preferably in China but working from a European office locations
- excellent Mandarin and English skills (oral and written)
- excellent communication skills and customer relation orientation as well as multicultural awareness
- in-depth understanding of Chinese building regulation and construction processes
- solid AutoCad skills
- skills in 3D-Max, Revit, Sketch-up, Indesign, Illustrator and/or similar programs are an advantage
- wxperienced MS Office use
- additional language skills are an advantage
Special Conditions and Reporting Line
The position works out of the Copenhagen office. Some travelling activities can be expected.
You will report to the International senior project manager, Lars Beier.
