really like the contrast it makes with the old Nottingham city. Agree that if a bit smaller, it would be easier for the more conservative part of the population to get used to it, but as a foreigner I think it brings out the "future" part of life and would love to see it on my way to work.
Congrats, great work.

I live around the corner from this building so I've seen it grown from nothing, and if I had to be honest, when it was first erected, I thought the green concrete walls were those 'cheap/quick' barriers that companys placed to create a curtain for their work so that they can unveil it once complete, but I was shocked to see that the architects had chosen to wrap the 'OPEN to public building in a 6 metre + high wall. It's intimidating, and does not send an 'inviting' message to the average passer by. The gallery in its first month was pretty quiet, I passed by on its opening night and noticed a garden marquee, it was all still very quiet.

I am warming to the building now, but I really don't understand why the walls were so high, embelished with gold - kinda looks likes armour.

On the inside though, this building is pretty special, but I guess only the visitors will prove if it's been a success or not.

P.s. I pass it every single day, I don't think it blends in, or stands out proudly, it's an odd building, but then that might be it's particular quality.

New York's lofts worked as studios in large part due to the fact that they were cheap, ubiquitous, vacant spaces that artists squatted on and worked in. To recreate those conditions is fanciful simulation, an imported metaphor, and to paint it gold?
I appreciate the restraint, given the audacity of most "Art-Cultural" civic gestures, but I just can't imagine that a project like this will work as it suggests.
