The Green Point Stadium project was undertaken by a consortium of practices, and not by GMP alone. The City of Cape Town joined two consortiums together, to execute the project. The local South African consortium was chosen specifically for its urban design competency and vision, which was a critical success factor in the contentious Cape Town project. The project was carried out by three architectural companies: STADIUM ARCHITECTS JOINT VENTURE, headed by GMP as concept architects, Louis Karol Architects and Point Architects &Urban Designers. (www.pointarchitects.co.za). There is also a book on the stadium PROCESS, which explains the full story of this multi-headed beast of a project.

@slater. Greenpoint got it's name after the large piece of recreational land on which the stadium is situated. This "green" contains a golf course, various smaller clubs, a tennis courts, a health club and it housed the old, much smaller stadium. The land will never be developed, which makes this a beautiful setting for the stadium. And of course, it's right next door to the V&A Waterfront.

I do agree with the context scale, would be great if they merge it eight or twelve meters down on the terrain, views could be cleaner for the "others".
