I am a big fan of zumthor but left feeling radically underwhelmed, the ideal of the 'contemplative room' was completely destroyed by the masses of people talking at the top of their lungs and i felt claustrophobic rather than relaxed...perhaps if i had stumbled apon this alone in a swiss forrest it might have achieved the desired design aspirations

Theres no intrigue left in architecture projects! Everyone wants to see it exploded from every angle.
Its like revealing the twist at the end of the movie. Why don't we all just let it be until its built and then have an opinion on it.

I believe he was quoted in the NYT write-up on him a week or so ago as wanting to build a little nest-egg now. Probably also why he agreed to do Tobey Maguire's new house. Although I don't know how much the S Pavilion actually pays...

It's hard to tell how this will actually work on these images alone. Initially, the sizing of the project and how it will handle crowds appears to be a huge concern. Having to queue to enter such a space would immediately detract from the overall experience, similar to one's experience of the Bruder Klaus Chapel when there is more than a handful of people there. Would have to assume that there is a lot more to this project if it is also to accommodate the Park Nights programme. Have to wait and see...
