great spaces! don't like the exterior much but the inside... brilliant! one thing to complain nontheless: the change of direction of the wooden floor on the staircase (pic1) is a pitty... otherwise close to perfection!

It doesn't matter what it looks like in 20 years, because in Japan a building rarely lasts that long....

A stunning design, but I think the awkward kitchen is a bit of a let down. It doesnt utilise the space well enough and appears to have been relegated to an odd corner on a mid landing. Considering the house is for a family with two children, its a small kitchen too. Extend the mezzanine and put it up by the garden terrace.

I find these houses really inspiring, but I'm not japanese, so I can't stand not to ask the question: how will it look in 20 years. Or 5, or 2?

I appreciate much of what is coming out of Japan quite often, but I must say that many residential projects posted to this site are rather reminiscent of each other in materiality, form, space planning, etc. I love Dezeen, and yet remain perplexed over the number of Japanese projects, when there is a big lovely world of architecture out there beyond what we are given here. Thanks!
