They have multiple functions. Since the building does not have a lowered ceiling, these elements (circular in open and linear in office spaces) are basically designed sound baffles (noise reduction for the exposed concrete ceiling), with integrated lightning and sprinklers. All installations for sprinklers, wires etc are in or on top of the concrete floor. The standard floor-to-floor height was lowered from 3.60m to 3.30 meters by using a minimal raised floor which holds all installations and elimination the standard, often ugly and waste of space - lowered ceiling.

The round white things on the ceiling has anything to do with sustainable approach to the building?i mean is this a smart technique to use less material for false ceiling?Or is it just a decoration matter?

The "fins" are quite interesting from an aesthetic POV, but here's an honest question. Is the need for artificial cooling (and design workarounds for that) really paramount in the Netherlands?

What would be really interesting is if the tops of the fins on the south face of the building were continuous photo-voltaic panels adjusted to the proper angle. For as much as I like the incorporation of passive solar design, the seamless integration of active solar makes me giddy.
