Visited this earlier today and was really impressed by it's materiality, space and massing. The Keim paint covered brick Walls (or are they whitewashed) work really well (unexpectedly) and the slate and copper is wonderful. It was a masterstroke to not start from the materiality of the original church, it makes it feel special. We were not allowed inside, so I can comment of the internal environment, but there seems a lot I'd hard materials employed. It deserves an award for more than it's use of copper.

A beautiful essay in a familiar language that is often adopted by default but seldom resolved with this degree of sensitivity & care. We have seen many copper clad walls but it could not have been easy to carry that detail through from wall to ceiling to door (? Is that a doorknob i spy peeking out from a slit in the 3rd picture?) so seamlessly. It feels like adding anything more to the palette of textures employed would begin to muddy the whole thing, which is to say the composition feels perfectly balanced. Rare.
