In inner Sydney and Melbourne are many former warehouses of various sizes imposed among the row houses and even city buildings. This is one such case. I recommend you explore these areas first hand on foot scrupulously studying all the architectural archaeology in detail while considering, also in detail, the variety of socio-economic changes in parallel with the fad driven popular mood-swings that these buildings have withstood. If you do, the buildings' and towns' histories will become their own self explanatory visual litany that should give you an experience richer than everything you can memorise from Mumford and Pevsner. This was never a picturesque shop.
