Movie: Thomas Heatherwick
at the V&A museum

Movie: in this movie filmed by Dezeen at today's preview of Heatherwick Studio: Designing the Extraordinary at the V&A museum in London, Thomas Heatherwick demonstrates the machine that dispenses guides to the exhibition from huge rolls of paper, inspired by newspaper printing presses.

Heatherwick also gave us a tour of the exhibition and we'll publish that movie on Dezeen soon.

The show opens to the public from 31 May to 30 September and includes the prototypes, experiments and inspirations behind key projects like the UK Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo 2010 and the recent redesign of the iconic London Routemaster bus.

    He's just so indie-vidual.

Love Heatherwick. Loathe new Routemaster. Looks like back end of a bus…

Actually, the back end on show at V&A is the best bit of it, which is perhaps why they’ve chopped it off.

That's a bit harsh. Its the first time I've seen a piece of public transport with an actual idea behind it rather than just a styling exercise. I'm interested, which aspect do you find so offensive?

I saw this exhibition yesterday. I'm not a designer or an architect but if I was, I would pack up and go home after seeing this……….kicks ass on every level.
