These developments are really interesting and it's nice to see these scientists and architects, 3D artists pushing the bounderies.

As for Iris van Herpen, she is for sure a talented designer, but I do find that she takes way to much credit for these 3D dresses. Every year she collaborates with the best of the best in the field of 3D computational architecture/design, without literally knowing anything about 3D design.

I know this because I saw an interview in Dutch, where she basically told the journalist she only works "flat" as in 2D, when she was being asked how she makes these 3D shapes. Maybe she does give some direction but somehow the results look eerily similar to the previous work of those she collaborates with.

And then she should always mention the names in an equal manner, instead of label it like an Iris van Herpen. On Dezeen it is mentioned, but on fashion websites it often doesn't happen.

She also mentioned she doesn't like reinventing old ideas, well that's rather an easy thing to say if you collaborate every year with artists.
