I agree and I've been wracking my brain for a way to allow for a link, but can't come up with anything which doesn't eliminate the upper section of this link. A ground floor link could be blended in quite easily.

I love it. We wanted to do something similar in the Kent countryside - a new build designed to look like a barrel-vaulted agricultural building with one glass side that would typically be open to the elements in a hay stack for example.

Unfortunately, our planners were very conservative and wouldn't consider it. So well done to Mole Architects for persuading them to try something different. I love the wood cladding on the interior of the vaulted ceiling.

The barrel vault seems ok to me; it's just the link that is completely alien. It doesn't disappear at all like a good glass link should. It pushes too hard up against the old roof and its corners poke harshly at the curved barel vault. It's far too strident, challenging both the old farmhouse and the new vault.

While this addition seems to look and work well, all the barrels I have ever seen have smaller diameters at the ends and larger in the middle. This does not appear to have that shape. Would tunnel vault be a better description?
