ON&ON's L Type Shelving System combines modular components with a made-to-measure service to create storage solutions for home, office and retail environments.
The recycled aluminium shelves are snapped together to assemble and finished off with injection-moulded end caps.
White, black or solid wood fronts can be added to alter the shelves' appearance. These can also be integrated with low-energy lighting.
Birch plywood wall panels, which can be veneered, stained or laminated, provide an optional backdrop to the shelves.
ON&ON has also created a range of white powder-coated aluminium accessories to help organise possessions, including dividers, bookends, trays and holders.
These accessories and pre-boxed shelving systems will soon be available to purchase from the company's website.
ON&ON will be displaying products on the ground floor at this year's Design Junction event, taking place at the Sorting Office, New Oxford Street, from 18 to 22 September during the London Design Festival.

ON&ON - a bit of our story
Over the past 20 years we have worked with big brands and designed everything from packaging through to environments including; retail, workspaces, product launches, and exhibitions. During that period we’ve worked with a variety of shelving & storage companies from large manufacturers through to independent cabinet makers, all with varying degrees of success. We have always felt that out of all of the companies and people we have worked with there wasn't anything that was quite right in-terms of aesthetics, functionality or price points for the spaces we were designing.
Tim and Kirsty Pope are the co-founders of ON&ON Creative Systems Ltd. We have set out to do one thing better and so together have formed ON&ON a new British design and manufacturing company.
ON&ON are a British design and manufacturing company who have created a new type of wall shelving system. The L Type Shelving System™ has incredible flexibility and meets the design challenges and needs of the modern office, retail, public and domestic space. It works on many levels and simply provides you with the components to help organise, manage, store and display.
We thought about how our shelves will be used, how each component works, how they all work together and the simplest way to install them. We wanted a system that was innovative yet practical, highly flexible and designed for the long term. Our aim is simple…to create better shelving.
The system is designed to be visible and flexible. It can form part of the architecture of a space, blend in with it or create a statement, the choice is yours depending on what you need.
It combines mass produced modular components with a made to measure service. This means you get the simplicity of production, consistency of parts and economies of scale with the bespoke and tailored service of a cabinet maker.
Unlike standard modular systems we have not had to compromise and create a single fixed module. With our shelving, however large or small your system is it will fit perfectly within your space. Select a shelf size larger than you require and we will cut it to the perfect size free of charge, you can choose from 0.8m, 1.6m, 2.4m, 3.2m or 4.8m lengths. We apply this same no compromise principle across our other components including wall fixings and wall panels.
Our shelves are formed from three parts; fronts, tops and endcaps. The fronts and tops are formed from 100% recycled aluminium that snap together and are finished off with two injection moulded endcaps. The shelf design allows for different shelf fronts to be snapped into position altering the shelf’s function or appearance. Choose from standard white, black or solid wood fronts (European oak or black walnut) or our fronts with integrated low energy lighting and if you order over 50 linear metres we’ll match any RAL colour.
Our wall panels are made from birch plywood and either veneered, stained or laminated. The edges are either exposed as the plywood, finished in solid wood or aluminium powder coated edging. They act as a wall finish and backdrop to our shelves.
We have developed a range of accessories that complement the system. Manufactured from aluminium, laser cut, folded and powder coated white. The different accessories help to manage and store your possessions including dividers, bookends, trays and holders. All of these have an extra tab or fold at the front to allow you to mark and identify them, a simple way to index or organise things on your shelves.
We can fit the system for you; otherwise to make it simple we supply all the fixings and installation guides for prepared, solid or plasterboard walls.
You can buy the system direct from us. Use our website shelf builder to get an idea of price and send us an enquiry or call our planning team on 01727 834 043. Also we will soon be launching our 'shelf shop' that allows you to buy our pre-boxed 'Little Office' shelving and accessories.
Come and see us at The London Design Festival, we will be exhibiting at Design Junction from 18 to 22 September on the ground floor with Modern Shows.
