Originally known as the Model 3130 and renamed after it won the Grand Prix at the Triennale di Milano, the Grand Prix chair was designed by the Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen in 1957.

The chair is made of pressure-moulded sliced veneer and comes in two different finishes: oak and walnut with clear lacquer, and coloured ash.

Upholstery is available in a wide range of fabrics and leathers. The base comes with four legs in two variations: chromed steel tubes, which are stackable in three heights, and the new non-stackable wooden legs.

“It has a slightly warmer and more homely expression then the Grand Prix with chrome legs,” said a Fritz Hansen spokesperson.

“The attention to detail and the unique design create a bold and exceptional statement that makes the Grand Prix as relevant today as it was 50 years ago.”

Last month the brand revealed it was reintroducing another iconic chair design by the Modernist architect, the Drop Chair originally designed in 1958.Grand Prix chair Fritz Hansen Arne Jacobsen
