Dutch architect Ben van Berkel of UNStudio was in London to reveal plans for a 30-storey residential tower and fellow Dutchman Rem Koolhaas of OMA was appointed to masterplan a new airport city in Qatar.
In American architecture this week, SHoP Architects designed a clutch of hollow skyscrapers for Brooklyn (above) and Frank Gehry drew on the rippled form of his recent New York skyscraper for a 22-storey tower in his hometown of Santa Monica, California (below).
Fun proposals on Dezeen this week included a roller coaster surrounding Battersea Power Station (below) and Dutch design collective Droog turned the notion of Chinese piracy on its head by making its own copies of Chinese objects.
