Readers and designers flocked to social media to satirise Airbnb's new logo for its similarity to existing branding for other companies, as well as hilariously suggesting various parts of the human anatomy it most resembled. A Tumblr site was even created in its honour cheeky enough to make adult-magazine publisher Hugh Hefner blush.
The other major story this week was the announcement of this year's RIBA Stirling Prize shortlist, which includes The Shard by Renzo Piano, Zaha Hadid's Olympic Aquatics Centre and Europe's largest public library by Mecanoo. See the full shortlist on Dezeen »
As part of our bamboo architects series, we've reported on new projects constructed with the naturally-strong material and interviewed key figures utilising bamboo's strength and aesthetics. Vietnamese architect Vo Trong Nghia described the sustainable building material as the "green steel of the 21st century".
Elsewhere a bike designed to fit in a bag sparked controversy among Dezeen readers, accusing the project of being an ill-conceived concept that would collapse under the weight of its rider.
Popular architecture projects this week included studios designed for east London creatives featuring a scaly facade, Herzog & de Meuron's naturally filtered swimming pool in Switzerland and a seaside house with a huge roof in Spain.
