Campanas in talks with Disney

Design Miami update: Brazilian designers the Campana Brothers are reportedly in discussions with Disney to produce furniture featuring Disney characters.

The deal is thought to involve a new range of sofas based on their 2002 Banquete sofa (above), which features a steel frame covered with soft toys bought in Sao Paolo street markets. The new range could feature Disney characters including Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

"This is still in discussion and we will let you know once we have more information," the Campana studio told us.

Brothers Fernando and Humberto Campana, who hail from Sao Paolo, have shot to prominence in the last few years with their exuberant designs inspired by Brazilian landscapes and cityscapes.

The Campana Brothers are currently working on new pieces for an exhibition at London's Albion gallery, to be held in summer 2007. London architect David Adjaye is also preparing a series of furniture designs to be exhibited at Albion in spring 2007. The range is understood to consist of modular stone pieces, which are currently being fabricated in Egypt.
