German designer Katrin Greiling has created a collection of sofas inspired by nomadic Bedouin furniture for Dubai brand Traffic. 

Called Bidoun, the pieces consist of stacked mattresses held together with a cord threaded through them to create sofas, ottomans and tables of varying heights, colours and fabrics.

Called Saint-Etienne, the series was designed for the new building of the  Ecole superieure d&#8217;art et design Saint-Etienne in France.

Hong Kong designer Michael Young has created a dining chair made of recycled aluminium.

The uprights are made of sheet aluminium, rolled into tubes to form legs and the backrest but opened out to meet each corner of the seat.

Tokyo 09: Japanese designer Nosigner presented a jewellery box with square drawers at Design Tide Tokyo earlier this week. 

Called Squares, the front of the piece is divided into squares of different sizes.

The surface is pollished using a technique traditionally used for finishing mirror stands in the Tokushima prefecture of Japan.

Tokyo 09: Japanese designer Nosigner will exhibit a modular collection of furniture at Design Tide Tokyo from tomorrow. 

Called Unit, the range comprises a chair, stool and table that can be combined to make various furniture forms.

Polish Design Season: Warsaw designer Krystian Kwiecinski has created a dining table where consumers manipulate the dimensions of the finished product via his website. 

Called Y Parametric table, the product is made of plywood painted white.

Components are water jet-cut from a single sheet of plywood according to the consumer&#8217;s specifications and slotted together.
