Each ring represents a different measure of time and the three values lined up at the point of intersection indicate the date and day of the week.

The largest ring has 31 units to mark the days of the calendar month, while the middle ring has 12 units for every month of the year and the smallest ring is labelled with the names of the days of the week.

Jeong Yong explains that while the two larger rings are based on the solar and lunar cycles, the third wheel is based on a division of time created by man. "The smallest ring with seven units represents the people who created the seven days of the week," he says.

Magnets are located behind each number or name, allowing the rings to join in any combination.

Earlier this year Yong also revealed designs for a CD player mounted like a globe.

Congratulations to the winners! Michele Han from the USA, Rachel Wilson from the UK, Jordan McCrae from the UK, Winnie Martins from Switzerland and Ignacio Bernaola from Spain all won an Unfortunately013 calendar.

Designed and illustrated by Fortuna Todisco, the Unfortunately013 calendar features 12 pages of drawings above simple grids with letters for the days of the week and numbers for the dates.

Each graphic is captioned with a cryptic quote to give clues about the superstition it is representing.

January's illustration portrays a champagne toast in front of figures in traditional Mayan dress, referencing the prophecy that the world will end at the close of this year.

March shows a rabbit with a peg leg, as rabbits' feet are considered lucky in many cultures, captioned with "Fortune. Or other people's bad luck".

UNFORTUNATELY013 is a reflection, through images, about the anachronistic persistence of superstitions in the present society.

A project thought and realized in Italy, ironically retro, but comple- tely projected in the future.

The Dot to Date Calendar contains an image for every month of the year, plus a few extras just for fun.

You can reveal the patterns by joining the dots one day at a time using colouring pens, a needle and thread or a pair of scissors.

Calendars are often pretty mundane things so we’ve combined it with one of our favourite childhood activities, dot to dot.

Dot each day to the next however you like, with whatever you like, a pen; pencil; needle and thread.

Each completed card reveals a London landmark. Every pack contains twelve Dot to Date cards (one for each month) and a couple of extras thrown in for good measure.

It's a fun calendar that plays with the rituals and patterns we have in our adult life by contrasting them with the childhood activity of dot-to-dot. The format provides a framework to be used and customised, coloured and scribbled on.

Japanese designer Hiroyuki Miyake's calendar works like a retractable tape measure, with one centimetre for each day of the year.

The Measure calendar is produced under his own brand, M75.

Oscar Diaz' Ink Calendar that uses the capillary action of ink spreading across paper to display the date was one of our most popular stories last year.

Here's a tiny bit of text from Miyake:

It is a calendar which measures the time of replacing 1 cm with 1 day.

By visualizing the length of the time, you can recognise something new feeling about the passed days and the left days.

At the present age when all things are digitised and even the time is equalised, I believe that this calendar gives new value of the time.

DMY: this calendar by German designer Susanna Hertrich shreds paper displaying each passing day.

Called Chrono Shredder, the piece displays the dates on a scroll of paper, showing the current day while all the past dates are shredded up to curl in a heap on the floor.

The machine as performer. Chrono-Shredder is a poetic time-object that reminds us of the volatileness of the »now«. As hybrid object with functions similar to those of a calendar and a clock, it shreds every single day in realtime. All that time that is irrevisibly lost gets a tangible existence in form of shredded paper. As time passes by, the tattered remains of the past pile up under the device.
