Called Concentré de Vie, the system by Matali Crasset comprises two upholstered chairs and two pebble-like cushions, housed in a triangular base that doubles as a single bed.

The elements are upholstered in neutral fabric with orange highlights and can be rearranged to accommodate different numbers of guests or activities as required.

Italian brand Campeggi showed the design at Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan. The brand has produced a few interesting pieces of furniture for house guests, with past products we've covered including a sofa wrapped in a fabric wall, a chair that transforms into a single bed and a coat stand that conceals a spare bed by Crasset.

Concentré de Vie is a project allowing diversity to express itself thanks to a set of elements that can be moved everywhere within the domestic landscape. It’s a mutant structure able to welcome from two to seven people turning from sofa to living room and proposing, at the same time, a different kind of comfort.

A team among which each member plays a main role: two square elements that become, one after the other, armrest, footstool or pouf; a box element acting as a binding agent that can be used as a single bed and finally two relaxing elements, real core of the whole system, which can be used together or separately.

Milan 2011: this chair by designer Giulio Manzoni that converts into a single bed was presented at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan earlier this month for Italian brand Campeggi.

The Virgola chair is designed to unfold from an armchair into a single bed.

It is designed with a removable cover, which can be replaced to hide the folding mechanism.

The chair can be paired with another to create a sofa and a fold-out double bed.

Milan 2011: Milan-based designer Emanuele Magini showed this sofa wrapped in a fabric wall for Italian brand Campeggi at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan.

The piece, called Sosia, comprises two seats that can be pushed together to form a day bed, separated into two arm chairs or wrapped in the extended cover to create a private space within a larger room.

The wall can be folded down around the seat backs or zipped up completely.

Milan 2010: at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile last week French designer Matali Crasset presented a guest bed that folds into a coat stand for Italian brand Campeggi

Called Chambre d'Ami, the product comprises a metal frame with a mattress rolled up inside.

Bedding materials can be stores inside this roll and coats hung on the metal loops.

The behavioral slant in the realm of home rituals is undoubtedly what has always been my synergist for designing furniture. This dissimilar vision, notably from a hospitality standpoint, makes furniture become an adventurous path to be rediscovered or reinvented.

My first association with Campeggi is founded upon a common interest for new symbolic representations of the home.

This object is synonymous with hospitality and offers two temporal dimensions. It initially greets us in an entrance hall or a small space in the house, and is used as a coat rack during the day, with its curved metallic structural lines offering hanger shapes placed at different heights.

When guests arrive and the night falls, it changes into an unplanned guest room armed with its various accessories:

• within this hospitable column, a mattress is transformed into a bed for two,
• inside this mattress is a bag with the quilt and pillows,
• the top becomes a lectern for bedside reading,
• and lastly, the metal structure becomes a clothes stand for hanging any apparel and in the middle, a space to empty your pockets …

Milan 2010: Swiss designer Adrien Rovero has created a sofa that can be transformed into a bed by re-arranging blocks of upholstery.

Called //Slash, the furniture will be presented by Italian brand Campeggi at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile next week.

The tubular metal frame has slats supporting the foam blocks, and the two parts slide apart to expand into a bed.

The following information is from the designer:

From the quick and visible transformation of a sofa into a bed, //slash is inspired by the foldable simple mattress. From this known foldable principle, the concept is push to the extreme in term of comfort and uses by including slats, an easy transformation as well as 2 clear uses.

Thanks to the pressure given by the structure to the foam to maintain it on both position. To convert it, the drawer like structure can be slide to the front before the mattress is unfolded. This project is another collaboration with Campeggi with the goal to breakthrough the world of sofa and their other uses.
