Based on a Japanese puzzle, the legs of this table by German design studio DING3000 knot together to create support for the blue glass tabletop.

As the legs interlock in the centre, the table can be assembled and dismantled without tools.

The project accompanies the Join cutlery set, which has the same assembly method (see our earlier story).

JOIN table

The inspiration for the table-top support of JOIN TABLE was an ancient Japanese game.

Three legs can be fitted into each other without any tools by means of the simple but enigmatic principle of the devils knot and merge to one mysterious object.

JOIN table is the big brother to our cutlery JOIN, which is based on the same principle.

JOIN table travels as a part of the "Design Deutschland 2011" exhibition - curated by the German Design Council - from the FuoriSalone in Milan to the ICFF in New York and finally to the Business of Design Week in Hong Kong.

This plastic cutlery that clips together to form little sculptures at the dinner table is by German design studio ding3000.

Called Join, the pieces have little sections cut out in the middle, which allow them to slot into each other.

The cutlery comes in a variety of colours.

JOIN by DING3000

Cutlery turns into cover. JOIN is more than simply knife, fork or spoon. It is a decoration for the table. The magic joining mechanism fascinates everybody. But not everybody will manage at once to transform the little sculpture into cutlery. A little skill and a good eye is necessary.

But do not worry – up to now nobody starved when unravelling the magic knot. Many times a meal grew cold because the cutlery itself, made of long life high-tech plastic material, was simply too fascinating. You should book JOIN a place at your table.

The cutlery was developed in co-operation with BASF. Awarded with the “design plus award” and the “interior innovation award” of the imm cologne

Milan 09: Hannover-based designers ding3000 present Tiffany Flowers, a light inspired by Tiffany lamps, at SuperStudio in Zona Tortona this week.

The lamp is made out of more than 500 laser cut acrylic glass pieces, which are joined by an environmentally friendly PU-coating.

Tiffany Flowers will be on show at the HIDDEN HEROES exhibition at Superstudio Piu in Zona Tortona, 22-27 April.

For more than 100 years Tiffany-lamps have never really changed neither in shape nor in pattern. With “Tiffany Flowers” ding3000 lines up to reanimate this old-fashioned Tiffany-subject by means of contemporary shapes and materials.

For our new lamp-design “Tiffany Flowers”, which will be shown at the exhibition 'Hidden Heroes' (Superstudio Piu, Milano. Date), we rediscovered the technique of Tiffany. With this technique huge quantities of complex, large, colourful and richly detailed lamps can be produced in an economic way.

Unfortunately Tiffany lamps have not evolved in shape or pattern over the last 100 years. With “Tiffany Flowers” we have set a starting point to lend Tiffany a new fascination with the help of alternative joining techniques, new materials and a contemporary design. “Tiffany Flowers” is made out of more than 500 laser cut acrylic glass pieces, which are simply joined by an environmental friendly PU-coating. The motive is inspired by an unknown internet-beauty called “Tiffany”.

More from German design studio ding3000: Noooodle is a device for measuring spaghetti portions.

Designed to measure the correct amout of pasta for between one and four people, Noooodle can also be used as a stand for a cooking pot.

The design has been put into production by German manufacturers Konstantin Slawinski.

Ding3000 will also soon be launching their DEL fly swatter, in the shape of a delete key from a computer keyboard. DEL will be produced by American company Fred.

Milan 08: German design team ding3000 present a new animal-inspired collection of furniture, lighting and accessories called Animal Tales at Salone Satellite in Milan this week. The collection features a sofa inspired by an Afghan hound, a vase that imitates a baby cuckoo, a floorlight resembling a giraffe and a sideboard based on a mule.

ding3000’s Animal Tales!

During the Milano Design Week 2008 the german design studio ding3000 will present its new collection themed Animal Tales. It’s a set of furniture, luminaries and accessories all inspired by the animal kingdom.

Elegant afghan hound – floats swiftly through every living room!

The sofa tazi is inspired by an afghan hound. A curtain of white fringes covers substructure and legs. Only the seat remains visible. Due to this design-trick the sofa seems to ”float” above the floor.

Greedy chick – always hungry for fresh flowers!

The cuco vase is a sphere with a beak-shaped opening glazed in copper and taking in the flowers. This design is inspired by the image of a hungry cuckoo chick.

Shy giraffe –being all bright, it hides in the lampshade!

Characteristic feature of the floor lamp jirafa is the construction of the lamp´s base. The three legs differ in length and are attached to each other following a mathematic algorithm. Despite this technical design principle the lamp has a natural appearance and offers different impressions when looking at it from varying angles. The design is inspired by a giraffe.

Not-at-all-stubborn mule – carries almost everything without a moan!

The sideboard muli is inspired by a mule. The body is made out of solid oak and houses a big drawer and a shed which is accessible from the top. The angled legs leave the impression of the sideboard being „walking”.
