Substandard materials blamed for wind
damage to Foster's Beijing airport

an architect from one of the firms that collaborated with Foster + Partners on the design of the Beijing Capital International Airport Terminal in China says that recent damage caused by wind had nothing to do with the quality of the design – The Washington Post

Shao Weiping of the Beijing Architectural Design and Research Institute said he was "very confident that the design was perfect and involved no mistakes or flaws.” China state media say passengers reported seeing roofing material from Terminal 3 blowing across the runway and through the three-year-old terminal building. It is the second time in a year that wind has reportedly affected the structure.

Outrage at gardens for Aberdeen by Snøhetta,

architects including Diller Scofidio + RenfroFoster + Partners and Snøhetta have submitted plans to a controversial competition that proposes the transformation of a Victorian public gardens in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Models of the six shortlisted entries were unveiled at a public exhibition yesterday but Andrew MacGregor, secretary of the protest group Friends of Union Terrace Gardens, condemned the designs as an “absolute abomination” and said there would be rolling public protests by supporters who want to keep the gardens as they are - The Scotsman

Foster + Partners win bid for
West Kowloon Cultural District

architects Foster + Partners' City Park proposal has been selected as the preferred option for the  masterplan for the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong, beating designs by OMA and Rocco Design Architects.

The decision was announced today by the Board of West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA).
