Frederik Roijé's SmokeStack is made from Corten steel, a weathered metal that provides a protective layer around the heater

"The shape of Smokestack refers to memories from the past, being a landmark and symbol of progress," said the designer.

The heater is on show at Torneria, Via Tortona 32, not far from Dezeen's base at the MINI Paceman Garage where we've set up a movie studio as part of our Dezeen and MINI World Tour.

Roijé also recently unveiled a piece of furniture for children combining a chair, table and lamp and a candle holder that resembles a piece of pipe sticking through the wall – see all design by Frederik Roijé.

We'll be in Milan all week hunting out the best design on show, including Studio Job's desk with a golden nose for a drawer handle and a skeletal chair by Nendo inspired by a stiletto heel.

Frederik Roijé's Little Triple Chair is intended for daycare centres and libraries and expands on his Triple Objects collection for adults.

"Children nowadays are growing up with iPads," Roijé told Dezeen. "I would like to stimulate the basic creative activities of reading, drawing, playing and writing."

Manufactured in the Netherlands, the chair is made from wood and has a polyamide fibre coating, typically used on the back of children's puzzles. 

Described by as Roijé "huggable", the material is chosen to be soft and durable.

Frederik Roijé's Wall of Flame candle holders come in two sizes and four colours.

They're made in the Netherlands from powder-coated steel tubes.

"[It's] a new point of view for candles in a modern interior, inspired by the archetype," Roijé told Dezeen.

The design follows Walk of Flames and Rise of Flames, a candelabra and chandelier by Roijé that we featured previously on Dezeen.

Other projects by Roijé we've featured on Dezeen include a table with three levels inspired by tiered rice fields and a multi-storey house for chickens.

We've featured lots of candle holders on Dezeen, including one that looks like a half-finished sketch of a candle holder and another set made of felt and inspired by the shapes of the Istanbul skyline.

Called Tablefields, the design is produced from a single piece of folded sheet metal with three legs made of lacquered ash.

Roijé wanted the table to express the forms of tiered rice fields, which he had become interested in while travelling.

The table is manufactured in the Netherlands and is available in four colours.

Other objects by Roijé we've featured on Dezeen include a five-storey chicken coop and a series of aluminium bowls shaped like maps of New York and Amsterdam.

We recently featured another table that appears to be made from a single sheet of metal, while last year we reported on a tiered table that includes mirrors to view its patterned undersides.

Other tables we've published recently include a trestle table held in tension by sheets of bowed steel and an office table with swinging chairs mounted around it.

Cologne 2011: Dutch designer Frederik Roijé presents his range of sofas with an integral side-table in Cologne, Germany, this week.

Called Slow Sofa, the seat can be reconfigured in various arrangements, including a corner sofa.

The collection is currently on show at Galerie Fiebach & Minninger during imm Cologne, which opens tomorrow and runs until 23 January.

In the context of the Passages during the IMM Cologne 2011, January 17 to 23, Frederik Roijé presents his latest design Slow Sofa at Galerie Fiebach & Minninger. The Slow Sofa is a collaboration of two pieces of furniture and materials in one object.

Slow as a durable starting principle in the design of interior products in order to continuously produce new creations. Within the food culture slow is already more developed. Fascinated by this belief the Slow Sofa is designed.

The Slow Sofa is a family of nine elements that can be applied in many compositions at various locations. An intelligent design for a new period in time.

Manufactured with local industries and craftspeople, with as many as possible natural never-ending and recyclable resources.
