Produced by Borealis, the installation arm of Serrano's studio, The Dome is built from nearly 1000 inflated PVC spheres with LED lights at their centres. "They're kind of like beach balls," Serrano told Dezeen.

Each LED is connected to a computerised system, which relays a combination of around 50 different patterns of light and colour. The program can be downloaded to a smartphone or tablet, making it easy to alter the sequence.

Cables fix each of the balls around the skeletal framework of the dome.

Serrano says he originally planned to rent a much smaller structure, but ended up using a dome that Coachella already owned.

"It's four times bigger than our original proposal," he explains. "We had to have the balls custom made in China to get them ready in time."

The structure was installed for the two weekends of the annual music festival and will be dismantled later this month.

The Dome by Borealis for Coachella

Inspired by the Pantheon dome in Rome, the installation resemblance a cathedral of light, an art piece where the visitor is immerse in a 360º unique experience completely surround with light. The dome works as immersive environments when inside and as large scale sculpture when view from outside. The dome is made out of nearly 1000 spheres and LEDs that are used as a pixel, creating a volumetric environment with infinite patterns and possibilities.

Borealis is the installation division of Hector Serrano. The Dome launches on Friday 12 April and will be open for Coachella two weekends 12-15 and 19-21 and attended by more than 200,000 people. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is an annual three-day music and arts festival, held in Indio, California in the Inland Empire's Coachella Valley. The event features many music genres, including rock, indie, hip hop, and electronic music, as well as sculpture.

Called Iconico, the speaker for French brand Lexon can be switched off simply by turning it face down. "It's a playful, intuitive and simple object to listen to your music everywhere in high sound quality," says Serrano.

Iconico is made of ABS plastic and comes in dark grey and white. It's intended for use with mobile phones and connects via a 3.5 millimetre stereo audio cable.

Maison&Objet takes place in Paris from 18 to 22 January.

Spanish designer Héctor Serrano expands his range of children's temporary tattoo puppets with these finger transfers.

Each set contains 20 puppets with a fairytale or farmyard theme. Gift brand NPW will show them at New York International Gift Fair earlier this month.

London designer Héctor Serrano presents this series of jars with cork lids at Maison&Objet, which opens today in Paris.

The project is an extension to his Natura collection of vases for La Mediterránea, launched in January.

The jars come in three sizes and three colours.

Maison&Objet continues until 13 September.

Natura Jars by Héctor Serrano para La Mediterránea

Natura jars are inspired by the world of vases. A collection of jars that not only store but also decorate. Its translucent colors let you see their content, screening them and creating a balanced range of tones.

A continuation and extension of the natural collection. This why we use the cork in the same way, similar formal language and same color code that resembles ancient glass, giving it a vintage flavour.

The collection is made of 100% recycled glass and is composed of three jars of 1000cc, 2000cc and 2400cc, available in three colors green, amber and red.

London designer Héctor Serrano presents a series of paper accessories for turning balloons into animal heads at the New York Gift Fair this week. 

Called Air Heads, the set includes stick-on paper features for a rhinoceros, koala, chicken, pig, bear and tiger.
