<p>An exhibition of work by South Korean designer <a href="http://www.kwangholee.com/">Kwangho Lee</a>, including this seating made of woven garden hoses, will be presented at <a href="http://www.huntingandcollecting.com/">Hunting and Collecting</a> gallery in Brussels this September.<span id="more-91033"></span></p>
<p><img title="Lifelike Design by Kwangho Lee at Hunting and Collecting" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/08/dzn_life-like-design-by-kwangho-lee-3.jpg" alt="Lifelike Design by Kwangho Lee at Hunting and Collecting" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p><em>Above and top: Obsession</em></p>
<p>Called Lifelike Design, the show will also include lighting made of tangled cables (<a href="http://www.dezeen.com/2008/01/11/weave-your-own-lighting-by-kwangho-lee/">see our earlier story</a>) and lamp shades carved from styrofoam in the shape of feathers (below).</p>
<p><img title="Lifelike Design by Kwangho Lee at Hunting and Collecting" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/08/dzn_life-like-design-by-kwangho-lee-7.jpg" alt="Lifelike Design by Kwangho Lee at Hunting and Collecting" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p><em>Above: Styrofoam Feathers</em></p>
<p>The exhibition will run 11-30 September.</p>
<p>Here's some more information from dealer and collector <a href="http://www.victor-hunt.com/">Victor Hunt</a>:</p>
<hr />
<p>For the occasion of <a href="http://www.designseptember.be/">Design September 2010</a>, designart dealer Victor Hunt and select store Hunting and Collecting are pleased to announce their collaboration for the Kwangho Lee, lifelike design exhibition and thus to invite you to come and discover some of the most groundbreaking works in contemporary designart.</p>
<p><img title="Lifelike Design by Kwangho Lee at Hunting and Collecting" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/08/dzn_life-like-design-by-kwangho-lee-2.jpg" alt="Lifelike Design by Kwangho Lee at Hunting and Collecting" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p>The Kwangho Lee, lifelike design exhibition will represent an exceptional overview of Kwangho Lee's works in his up to now short but brilliant career and thus offer a unique insight into his creations. The exhibition will be accompanied by a looped motion picture about the creative processes behind Kwangho Lee's works in order to further illustrate the context of the designart discipline.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-91041" title="Lifelike Design by Kwangho Lee at Hunting and Collecting" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/08/dzn_life-like-design-by-kwangho-lee-4.jpg" alt="Lifelike Design by Kwangho Lee at Hunting and Collecting" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p>To vividly illustrate the exciting evolutions the designart movement is currently undergoing, Kwangho Lee will exercise his crafts and skills live at the exhibition by creating one work of choice during the early hours of the vernissage. Afterwards, the vernissage will be enriched by the exclusive preview of the motion picture about Kwangho Lee. This didactic animation has been specially created for the occasion of the exhibition and offers an extensive insight into Kwangho Lee's universe as a designer and person, in addition to addressing some of the topical designart issues.</p>
<p><img title="Lifelike Design by Kwangho Lee at Hunting and Collecting" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/08/dzn_life-like-design-by-kwangho-lee-6.jpg" alt="Lifelike Design by Kwangho Lee at Hunting and Collecting" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p><em>Above and below: Weave Your Lighting</em></p>
<p>"Kwangho Lee was born in 1981 in South Korea, grew-up on a farm but finally finished Hongik University in 2007. Now he awaits the harvest."</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-91042" title="Lifelike Design by Kwangho Lee at Hunting and Collecting" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/08/dzn_life-like-design-by-kwangho-lee-5.jpg" alt="Lifelike Design by Kwangho Lee at Hunting and Collecting" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p>Through his unique combination of materials, crafts and concepts, Kwangho Lee evokes true emotion. Working always on concepts as for example "primary transformations for primary materials", he tries to see to the other side of materials. Everyday’s raw and ordinary materials can be made into something beautiful... Design for the heart!</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-91045" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/08/dzn_life-like-design-by-kwangho-lee-8.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p>After his graduation at Seoul University Kwangho managed to establish his own reputation in remarkably short time. Having his work represented at the highest level by galleries such as Johnston Trading in New York, Seomi Gallery in Seoul and venues as the DesignMiami/Basel artfair or the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art he gave proof of his prodigious skills and talent right from the start.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-91046" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/08/dzn_life-like-design-by-kwangho-lee-9.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="468" /></p>

<p>Styrofoam Sofa by Korean designer <a href="http://www.kwangholee.com/main.html">Kwangho Lee</a> is a sofa made of Styrofoam. <span id="more-8472"></span></p>
<p><img src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2008/01/eps01sq.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p>He makes the sofa by cutting the material with a hot wire.</p>
<p><img src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2008/01/eps03sq.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p><a href="http://www.dezeen.com/2008/01/11/weave-your-own-lighting-by-kwangho-lee/">See Weave Your Lighting by Kwangho Lee in our earlier story</a>. Below is a statement from Lee about this project:</p>
<p>--</p>
<p>Styrofoam is something easily exposed and quite familiar in our daily
lives. Not to mention how often art or design students use it so often
for its reasonable price and manipulation.</p>
<p><img src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2008/01/eps04.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p>It was also one of my best
toys in childhood and thus the memory of playing with it was the
 biggest inspiration.</p>
<p><img src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2008/01/eps02.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p>For its materialistic merit of getting warmer as
you sit or keep hold of it, I sculpted a sofa out of the most raw
form - a whole block of it - of Styrofoam with heat wires. It is a
study/experiment of a material so raw and familiar, transforming it
into something different, giving it another meaning.</p>
<p><img src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2008/01/eps03.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p>I sculpted it out of a whole block of styrofoam with heat wire. The pieces are 'cut off' by melting from the heat.</p>
<p><img src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2008/01/eps01.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p>The wires are adjusted with handles on both ends which is connected to the adoptor. It's a lot better than cutters or knives. The cut is very clean with no styrofoam powder dusting and produces a certain texture that 'coats' the surface.</p>

<p>Weave Your Lighting is a project by Korean designer <a href="http://www.kwangholee.com/">Kwangho Lee</a> that is inspired by memories of his mother's knitting. <span id="more-8483"></span></p>
<p><img src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2008/01/12.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p>Below is an explanation of the project from Lee:</p>
<p>--</p>
<p>The biggest inspiration of this lighting is my mother's knitting hobbies during my childhood. Her knitted sweaters and gloves remind me of the good days of my childhood. I saw the neat pile of electric wires as yarns and soon decided to knit (weave) my own.</p>
<p><img src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2008/01/21.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p>Rather than knitting with needles, I developed a new way of weaving the rubber but solid wires into long, scarf-like or brush-like form of lighting. They are weaved by one long wire, which varies in length-from 10 to 300meters.</p>
<p><img src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2008/01/weavewhite.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p><img src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2008/01/weavewhite1.jpg" alt="" /></p>
