The Kabino cabinet by Simon Legald for Normann Copenhagen comes in white or grey with a natural ash wood frame.

The perforations mean it can be used as a TV cabinet because devices hidden inside can still be operated with a remote control when the doors are closed.

"I like to work in the cross field between craftsmanship and industry," says Legald. "When you buy a modern sideboard, it is often designed with pure craftsmanship or total industry in mind."

"With Kabino I have explored manufacturing methods and various combinations of material in order for Kabino to have a little of both."

Earlier this year Norman Copenhagen launched a table-top mirror with a dish in the base to hold small items.

Designer Simon Legald often adds his personal touch to his designs through well thought out details. The Flip mirror can be turned up, down and rotated 360 degrees. It is available in either black, white or a sand colour.

Javier Moreno says: "The tray design on the base means that flip is both a traditional mirror and an easy and simple storage utility for small items."

Javier Moreno set up his own studio in Alicante in 2010.

Product news: Copenhagen designer Henriette W. Leth has designed a colourful, modular storage system for Danish design brand Normann Copenhagen.

Made of folded steel, the boxes are powder-coated in six different colours: white, grey, rose, rust, green and blue.

"I became tired of looking at unattractive book covers on the shelves and therefore decided to find a solution which could not only contribute with some color in the room but also be a way to store things practically," says Henriette W. Leth.

The Color Boxes are sold individually and can be stacked in any combination on the floor or hung on the wall separately.

The boxes can be placed on top of one another loosely, and the weight of the boxes and the contents inside keeps them in place.

Italian designers LucidiPevere Studio have created this circular kitchen knife for Danish brand Normann Copenhagen.

Called Chop, the product has a stainless steel blade and rubber handle.

The blade can be sheathed in a rubber cover when not in use, completing the doughnut shape.

Industrial design at its best - Normann Copenhagen presents Chop

Once again Normann Copenhagen surprises us and launches a product for the kitchen that combines the best qualities into a single design. Chop, designed by the Italian designer LucidiPevere Studio, is a different chopping knife that brings a bit more fun into cooking. The knife sits well in the hand and its unconventional round shape makes it easy to use with just one hand.

Paolo Lucidi and Luca Pevere are the designers behind LucidiPevere Studio. From their design studio in Udine in Italy, they create industrial designs based on a pragmatic and curious approach to design.

In creating Chop, LucidiPevere have focused on creating a functionally good chopping knife with a different expression. Chop can be used with just one hand and easily chops herbs, chocolate, etc.

LucidiPevere say: “Products should create joy and surprise the user. It was important to us to create a knife with a brilliant function. A usable knife in a simple design that sits well in the hand and which has an amusing and aesthetically stylish form. It is not often that you see a round knife, this is what made us think that it would be interesting to play with a round shape for Chop”.

The kitchen knife Chop is available in four different colours.

Designer Aurélien Barbry of Denmark has created a collection of cork stoppers for design brand Normann Copenhagen.

Called Wine & Bar, the set features stoppers in three shapes plus a cork with pouring spout.

Normann Copenhagen presents a series of Wine & Bar accessories in a natural design

Warmth, proximity and humour are the essential features behind Wine & Bar, designed by Aurélien Barbry. Wine & Bar is a complete set of useful wine-related products in an attractive and friendly cork design. The expression is organic, the function clear.

First launch comprises three different wine stoppers and a combined stopper and pourer.

The source of inspiration was traditional wine production, in which cork was used to seal the bottle. Today, other materials are also used. Aurélien Barbry has created an original series of Wine & Bar, which ironically enough are made from cork. Each product has an individual expression. One of the stoppers, for example, takes its shape from a wine glass. At the same time, the different parts create a complete whole.

Aurélien Barbry explains: ” My designs are based on objects in daily use. I redefine their use, and find new shapes and expressions to give new life to the object. Often, when you just drink one glass of wine a day, you lack a decorative, yet functional, stopper for the wine bottle.

I think that it is interesting to use cork, which is an honest material, traditionally used as to seal bottles, for a series of Wine & Bar. For me, cork radiates a warmth and gives the series its natural look. Wine & Bar celebrates both the daily meal table and dinner parties”.

Wine & Bar ensures that the wine bottle is suitably sealed and can be reused repeatedly.
