The Sparkle stool and side table by Tokujin Yoshioka have ridges that gently curve around the sides and fan out across the tops, giving the furniture a twisted appearance.

"Sparkle shines by refraction of light from the prism effect like a crystal glass," says Yoshioka.

Kartell is famous for plastic products and also launched a sofa by Philippe Starck that's the largest single-piece injection moulding in the world on its stand at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile. See all our stories about plastic furniture by Kartell.

Designer Hugo Passos' yellow side table inspired by the paintings of Dutch artist Piet Mondrian will feature in the Stepney Green Design Collection curated by Dezeen.

The table has an asymmetrical leg structure made from solid walnut that pokes through the brightly coloured, matt lacquer table top.

The tables are also available in red, blue, black and white, in keeping with the style of the De Stijl art movement that Mondrian was closely associated with.

Dezeen has been commissioned to curate a collection of products designed by east London creatives that live near to new housing development VIVO and we will be publishing more designs as they are added to the collection during the next month. See all the stories we have published so far here.

The designs will be on show as part of a collection of 30 works of art, fashion, sculpture and furniture celebrating local talent that will be exhibited at the Genesis Cinema in October and then donated to the VIVO residents – find out more here.

The Postable comprises a modular system of sheet-steel components that can be folded and bolted together once unpacked to make tables of various sizes.

Toer presents Postable, the table that fits in your mailbox. Changes in customer-behavior and the online evolution of the retail industry were the motives to focus on the distribution aspect of new design. Toer explored the boundaries of logistics.

People furnish their living space. They used to gather their products locally. Later, they selected them locally and ordered online. Today people seem to be able to select their future possessions purely via the internet.

By inquiring and acquiring online, no customer-salesmen interaction is taking place any more. By delivering products in your mailbox there is no need to stay home to receive it . All human interaction in gathering furniture is unnecessary in the design of the Postable.

Postable is a stainless steel table design. It is a modular system. Each element fits within the outer dimensions of regular mail. A full-size dinner-table can easily be assembled from the content of one envelope.

Designed in Hackney: these side tables by Haggerston designer Corinna Warm feature deep round trays supported on tubular steel legs that make them resemble snare drums.

Called Drum, the design for Swedish brand Swedese comes in natural, black or white and was presented in Stockholm and Milan earlier this year.

Berlin-born Warm founded her studio in Hackney Central in 2007 and moved close to Haggerston station four years ago.

Now a team of three, they work in the fields of product, furniture and interior design, distributing their own range of furniture and lighting alongside work for other producers.

Hong Kong designer Kitmen Keung has created a lounge chair and ottoman by slicing a cube of foam in two.

Called Dual Cut, it was designed for Belgian brand Sixinch.

The two pieces of foam fit together for easy storage and transportation.

Splitting a raw rectangular foam block with only two L-shaped cut lines, the Dual Cut Chair and ottoman employs the simplest production processes true to the materials in use with minimal wastage.

It features two ergonomically comfortable seat back angle options of 6° and 23°, and the multi-formation ability to form a one seater with a side table, a chaise lounge or a corner table.

It also easily forms a neat, compact parcel for convenient storage and transportation.

Dual Cut is available in Light Grey and Dark Grey with a 3-layer-system coating making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Dimensions: stacked, w80 x h80 x d93cm; chaise lounge, w80 x h80 x d170cm; ottoman, w80 x h40 x d77cm; seat height 40cm.
