<p>This vase by Rhode Island School of Design graduate Jiwon Choi is made from a thin curl of synthetic paper.<span id="more-287818"></span></p>
<p>The vase is made of Tyvek, a lightweight and tear-resistant material produced from plastic fibres.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-287888" title="Tyvek Vases by Jiwon Choi" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2013/01/dezeen_Tyvek-Vases-by-Jiwon-Choi_2c.jpg" alt="Tyvek Vases by Jiwon Choi" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p><a href="http://cargocollective.com/jiwonchoi/" target="_blank">Jiwon Choi</a> intended to create a package for a bunch of flowers that would be simple and light but strong enough to stand upright.</p>
<p>She is currently looking for a manufacturer to produce the vase.</p>

<p>We've featured a few other Tyvek objects, including <a href="http://www.dezeen.com/2011/02/28/papela-by-meirav-barzilay/">a crumpled pendant lamp</a> and <a href="http://www.dezeen.com/2010/12/09/manifold-clock-by-studio-ve/">a clock that creates changing 3D shapes as the minutes tick by</a> – see <a href="http://www.dezeen.com/tag/tyvek/">all products made from Tyvek</a>.</p>
<p>Other vases we've published lately include <a href="http://www.dezeen.com/2013/01/30/heirloom-vase-benjamin-graindorge-moustache/">vessels that loop over the flowers to frame them</a> and <a href="http://www.dezeen.com/2012/12/21/snug-cardboard-vases-by-snug-studio/">jewel-like vases assembled from flat sheets of cardboard</a> – see <a href="http://www.dezeen.com/tag/vases/">all vases on Dezeen</a>.</p>

<p>Here's a tiny bit of text from the designer:</p>
<hr />
<p>PAPELA</p>
<p>Papela is a playful paper lamp. Crumple, squash and reshape it as you like.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-118614" title="Papela by Meirav Barzilay" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2011/02/dzn_Papela-by-Meirav-Barzilay-6.jpg" alt="Papela by Meirav Barzilay" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p>Papela is delivered as a paper ball, which by a simple set of actions transforms into a unique wrinkled lampshade.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-118624" title="Papela by Meirav Barzilay" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2011/02/dzn_Papela-by-Meirav-Barzilay-71.jpg" alt="Papela by Meirav Barzilay" width="468" height="391" /></p>
<p>Its minimalist structure is created by thread stitches only, hand sewn out of a colored paper sheet. Papela is available in two different designs.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-118625" title="Papela by Meirav Barzilay" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2011/02/dzn_Papela-by-Meirav-Barzilay-81.jpg" alt="Papela by Meirav Barzilay" width="468" height="361" /></p>
<p>Materials: Tyvek | Dimensions: 32cm x 45cmØ , 26cm x 45cmØ X-LARGE 55cm x 85cmØ | Year: 2011</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-118617" title="Papela by Meirav Barzilay" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2011/02/dzn_Papela-by-Meirav-Barzilay-9.jpg" alt="Papela by Meirav Barzilay" width="468" height="313" /></p>

<p>Here's a tiny bit of information from the designers:</p>
<hr />
<p>The Manifold Clock.</p>
<p>We connected the clock's two hands with a manifold to create a 3D movement.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-107698" title="Manifold Clock by Studio Ve" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/12/dzn_Manifold-Clock-by-Studio-Ve-5.jpg" alt="Manifold Clock by Studio Ve" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p>The time can be read traditionally using the two hands, while a new reading method is created when clock demonstrates an ever-changing form every minute. It is a combination of modern design and simple mechanics.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-107699" title="Manifold Clock by Studio Ve" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/12/dzn_Manifold-Clock-by-Studio-Ve-6.jpg" alt="Manifold Clock by Studio Ve" width="468" height="468" /></p>

<p>The following information is from the architects:</p>
<hr />
<p>Move: Choreographing You</p>
<p>Move: Choreographing you is an exhibition of visual and performance art curated and hosted by the Hayward Gallery on London’s Southbank. The theme of the exhibition focuses on sculptures and installations which invite the visitor to become both participant and performer through interaction with performers, visitors, and the pieces themselves.</p>
<p>AL_A was commissioned by the Hayward Gallery to do the interior spatial design and planning of the exhibition, as well as develop a multi-media archive in collaboration with interactive designers Unit 9.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-107197" title="Move Choreographing You Exhibition by Amanda Levete Architects" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/12/dzn_Move-Choreographing-You-Exhibition-by-Amanda-Levete-9.jpg" alt="Move Choreographing You Exhibition by Amanda Levete Architects" width="468" height="154" /></p>
<p>The exhibition design was driven by the relationships between choreography and geometry, movement and form. Inspired by the photographic motion studies of the human body of Etienne-Jules Marey and Eadweard Muybridge, we have created a collection of spatial dividers which are defined by a serial transformation of a single material: a sequence of folded oscillations of Dupont Tyvek.</p>
<p>The resulting translucent paper-like fabric ribbons, a counterpoint to the brutality of the building, rise and fall with undulating folds which simultaneously define themselves as way finding devices, partitions, suspended ceilings, and portals. These fluid spatial and formal transformations choreograph the movement of the visitor through areas of sculpture, film, archive and performance.</p>
<p><a href="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/12/dzn_Move-Choreographing-You-Exhibition-by-Amanda-Levete-10_1000.gif"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-107199" title="Move Choreographing You Exhibition by Amanda Levete Architects" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/12/dzn_Move-Choreographing-You-Exhibition-by-Amanda-Levete-10.gif" alt="Move Choreographing You Exhibition by Amanda Levete Architects" width="468" height="136" /></a></p>
<p><em>Click for larger image</em></p>
<p>The spatial configurations defined by our dividers are intended to embody two types of performative experience: public and private. In the public experience, the ribbons frame views, carve space, and lead visitors to a fluid and communal experience of the interactive objects and installations of Bruce Nauman, Robert Morris, Franz West, Franz E. Walther, William Forsythe, Christian Jankowski, and others.</p>
<p>In the private experience, the ribbons are used to enclose and define smaller more intimate spaces for introspective and singular experiences with the works of Isaac Julien, Dan Graham, Simone Forti, Tanya Bruguera, Lygia Clark and others.</p>
<p>While the expressive form of the ribbons was conceived as a choreography of material inspired by origami, the structure and bespoke detailing of the paper-like ribbons was inspired by those found in kites and was developed in close collaboration with fabricators Kite Related Design.</p>

<p><strong>DMY Berlin 2010:</strong> at <a href="http://dmy-berlin.com/">DMY Berlin</a> this week Berlin designers <a href="http://noi-berlin.com/">NOI</a> present their first collection of furniture, comprising simple wooden trestles and sewn Tyvek pockets.<span id="more-82782"></span></p>

<p>The series of temporary clothing storage is inspired by the appearance of Japanese kimonos when presented on a kimono rack and the storage bags found in their sleeves.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-82804" title="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/06/Yukuta-by-NOI-5.jpg" alt="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" width="450" height="450" /></p>
<p><em>Above: Hakama</em></p>
<p>The trestles are available in oak, ash or walnut and can be self assembled.</p>

<p><em>Above: Hakama</em></p>
<p>DMY Berlin continues until 13 June.</p>
<p>Here is more information from NOI:</p>
<hr />
<p>Haori</p>
<p>The traditional Kimono is characterised by its long sleeve bags – these are a form of sack used as (secret) storage for personal utensils.</p>
<p><img title="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/06/Yukuta-by-NOI-5-new.jpg" alt="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" width="450" height="450" /></p>
<p><em>Above: Hakama detail</em></p>
<p>This expressive image of the Kimono, which is often presented on a typical Kimono rack was one of the starting points of our creative work.</p>
<p><img title="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/06/Yukuta-by-NOI-4.jpg" alt="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" width="450" height="450" /></p>
<p><em>Above: Haori</em></p>
<p>The series of spatially imposing objects serve for temporary storage and are composed of a minimal amount of materials.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-82811" title="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/06/Yukuta-by-NOI-13.jpg" alt="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" width="450" height="450" /></p>
<p><em>Above: Haori</em></p>
<p>The feathery flat bag system is made from paper-like Tyvek, which is layered, folded and sewed together to gain volume when filled.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-82810" title="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/06/Yukuta-by-NOI-12.jpg" alt="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" width="450" height="450" /></p>
<p><em>Above: Haori</em></p>
<p>The minimal wooden structure consists of a simple plug connection and can be assembled by the user on-site.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-82809" title="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/06/Yukuta-by-NOI-10.jpg" alt="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" width="450" height="450" /></p>

<p><em>Above: Yukuta</em></p>
<p>Hakama</p>
<p>Hakama is the smallest piece of the series. It serves as a neat clothes rack and is especially dedicated to those who use to have a mountain of worn but not dirty clothes on the floor. Hakama is made of oak tree, but also available in ash and walnut.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-82807" title="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/06/Yukuta-by-NOI-8.jpg" alt="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" width="450" height="450" /></p>
<p><em>Above: Yukuta</em></p>
<p>Yukata</p>
<p>Yukata is a coat rack with some additional space for accessories, underclothing or shoes. Clothes are protected and hidden behind the bag system made from Tyvek. Yukata's structure is made from ash tree but also available in oak and walnut.</p>
<p><img title="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/06/Yukuta-by-NOI-9.jpg" alt="Haori / Hakama / Yukuta by NOI" width="450" height="450" /></p>

<p>About NOI</p>
<p>After several years of practical experiences Ines Königsmann and Nora Schmidt, both graduates of Bauhaus-Universtität Weimar, founded studio NOI and moved to the atelierhouse Heikonaut in Berlin Lichtenberg in 2009.</p>
