<p>British fashion designers Sibling crocheted colourful flowers and giant accessories for their Autumn Winter 2013 womenswear collection shown during London Fashion Week.<span id="more-292678"></span></p>

<p>Renowned for knitwear, <a href="http://www.siblinglondon.com/" target="_blank">Sibling</a> created the range of textured and floral-patterned clothes for their womenswear label Sister.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-292703" title="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2013/02/dezeen_The-Natural-Blonde-by-SISTER-by-Sibling_8.jpg" alt="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" width="468" height="669" /></p>
<p>The collection was influenced by British television presenter Paula Yates. "In our eyes she was the perfect English Rose - Punk Version," says Sibling.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-292705" title="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2013/02/dezeen_The-Natural-Blonde-by-SISTER-by-Sibling_10.jpg" alt="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" width="468" height="672" /></p>
<p>Hand crocheted scarves and coats are all exaggerated in size, with Fair Isle knits used for more simple dresses detailed with rose motifs.</p>

<p>Mint green and bright red outfits are interspersed with calmer shades of beige, blue and pink.</p>

<p>Outfits are accessorised with giant bobble hats in matching colours to the garments, plus fur scarves and arm warmers in white, black or red.</p>

<p>Similar oversized accessories were used in their menswear collection shown earlier this year during London Collections: Men.</p>

<p>The Sister by Sibling collection was shown during London Fashion Week, which concluded yesterday.</p>

<p>We've also featured a <a href="http://www.dezeen.com/2013/01/21/concentrated-by-sruli-recht/">fashion collection that included wooden clothes</a> from the Autumn Winter 2013 season.</p>

<p>Here is some more information from Sister by Sibling:</p>
<hr />
<p>The Natural Blonde - Autumn Winter 2013</p>
<p>"Nothing stands in your way when you’re a blonde except perhaps the wardrobe door" - Paula Yates, ‘Blondes, a history from their earliest roots’ 1983.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-292708" title="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2013/02/dezeen_The-Natural-Blonde-by-SISTER-by-Sibling_13.jpg" alt="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" width="468" height="674" /></p>
<p>“This season we wanted to explore the idea of Paula Yates’ feminine sexuality,” say Sister by Sibling AKA Joe Bates, Sid Bryan and Cozette McCreery. “She was sexy and flirtatious, beautiful and clever and also a rarity since women loved her too. She must have been doing something right!”</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-292698" title="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2013/02/dezeen_The-Natural-Blonde-by-SISTER-by-Sibling_3.jpg" alt="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" width="468" height="674" /></p>
<p>They continue: “In many ways she presented herself in quite a traditional sense; she was almost ironic in her Forties/Fifties silhouettes, the clothing of the perfect housewife. It was as if she took her look as a role; an ad for an ideal homemaker subverted. In our eyes she was the perfect English Rose. Punk Version.’</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-292710" title="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2013/02/dezeen_The-Natural-Blonde-by-SISTER-by-Sibling_15.jpg" alt="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" width="468" height="677" /></p>
<p>This season Sister by Sibling is inspired by Paula Yates’ energy, fun and Englishness: the label interprets her vibrant spirit in knit.</p>
<p><img title="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2013/02/dezeen_The-Natural-Blonde-by-SISTER-by-Sibling_5.jpg" alt="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" width="468" height="669" /></p>
<p>Borrowing and bouncing off the boys Sibling collection, Sister both shares and diverts from this earlier offering shown at the beginning of the year. The Spray Paint Marie Antoinette sweater has a similar structure to the Sibling Hell and Please Kill Me jumpers: side seams pull forward into a bonded front, merino ribs form a relaxed shoulder. This same silhouette is worked in Scottish lamb’s wool Fair Isles, a new graphic with a delicate lace stitch running through. This stitch is replicated in the flip-frill of a matching skirt.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-292709" title="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2013/02/dezeen_The-Natural-Blonde-by-SISTER-by-Sibling_14.jpg" alt="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" width="468" height="673" /></p>
<p>Chintz &amp; Spots work together in printed three-pieces covered in sequins and Stripes &amp; Spots poke through lurex again a reference to artist Chad Wys’ work but with added SIBLING: if it’s spotted it needs sparkle.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-292701" title="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2013/02/dezeen_The-Natural-Blonde-by-SISTER-by-Sibling_6.jpg" alt="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" width="468" height="669" /></p>
<p>Moving from the house to the garden, florals are highlighted. Hand crochet coats and perky skirts are covered with integral roses. Barbados Blue cardigans and Buttoned Split skirts have corsage blooms.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-292716" title="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2013/02/dezeen_The-Natural-Blonde-by-SISTER-by-Sibling_21.jpg" alt="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" width="468" height="669" /></p>
<p>Bouncy leopard jacquards – a Sibling signature – are knitted in figure hugging yarn mixes shaped into a Cape Back dress or spring out as a Batwing from a tight mini. The same batwing shape, knitted in Blonde wool has a V of gold jewelry-spacers.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-292712" title="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2013/02/dezeen_The-Natural-Blonde-by-SISTER-by-Sibling_17.jpg" alt="The Natural Blonde by SISTER by Sibling" width="468" height="669" /></p>
<p>Sid Bryan’s signature oversized hand knits mutate the accessories and show pieces: Loopy scarves, a ¾ sleeve Loopy jacket in spearmint and a vanilla Loopy cape with matching A line skirt. Exaggerated Fair Isles become a dress, fluffed further with a knitted rib collar and cuffs stitched with strips of fox the same technique shown to full effect across the front of a jet black sweater.</p>

<p>Bonora made the red and white chair and hat stand (below) by crocheting barrier tape that reads 'work in progress', while the decorative circular pendant is made from the plastic wire used for washing lines.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-250698" title="Nodi Contemporanei by Loredana Bonora" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2012/09/dezeen_Nodi-Contemporanei-by-Loredana-Bonora_16.jpg" alt="Nodi Contemporanei by Loredana Bonora" width="468" height="660" /></p>

<p>Feathers have also been used to cover the bulbs of the two standing lamps, while the table lamps have crocheted shades.</p>

<p>The gold chair was made with the small wires used to tie up chocolates boxes,while the fluffy white chair was crocheted with wool thread.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-250362" title="Nodi Contemporanei by Loredana Bonora" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2012/09/dezeen_Nodi-Contemporanei-by-Loredana-Bonora_8.jpg" alt="Nodi Contemporanei by Loredana Bonora" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p>Different crochet patterns appear in each piece of furniture, from simple circular designs on the white table to intricate flowers on the base of the recliner.</p>

<p>Here's some more information from Plusdesign:</p>
<hr />
<p>On the occasion of the Start Milano’s incoming opening events, Plusdesign presents Nodi Contemporanei (Contemporary Knots), the first solo exhibition of the Italian designer Loredana Bonora. The show introduces a new collection of furnishings, tables, chairs, beds and lamps, entirely covered in crochet and artfully woven with unusual materials combined with traditional techniques.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-250366" title="Nodi Contemporanei by Loredana Bonora" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2012/09/dezeen_Nodi-Contemporanei-by-Loredana-Bonora_12.jpg" alt="Nodi Contemporanei by Loredana Bonora" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p>Loredana Bonora covers the design icons, revealing new and unique personalities. Through the transparency, unexpected details and provocative combinations, she gives the furniture a new character, changing their the story and releasing them from their own objectivity.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-250367" title="Nodi Contemporanei by Loredana Bonora" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2012/09/dezeen_Nodi-Contemporanei-by-Loredana-Bonora_13.jpg" alt="Nodi Contemporanei by Loredana Bonora" width="468" height="606" /></p>
<p>With her crochet, Loredana Bonora does not redraw only the objects, but a whole world made of colours, feelings and soft lines woven with ability and extraordinary femininity. She draws on a scenario that belongs to her imagination and invites the observers to access a dreamlike dimension made of subjective feelings and emotions, free from all formal constraints.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-250368" title="Nodi Contemporanei by Loredana Bonora" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2012/09/dezeen_Nodi-Contemporanei-by-Loredana-Bonora_14.jpg" alt="Nodi Contemporanei by Loredana Bonora" width="468" height="669" /></p>
<p>Loredana Bonora combines the traditional technique of crochet with ongoing creative research and the experimentation of new materials aimed to design unique objects. Yarns of PVC, the red and white stripes work in progress tape, clothes hangers or packaging, but also more classic yarns such as cotton and wool, are skillfully woven maintaining the same ancient craftsmanship but overturning the traditional beliefs, taking a fresh and contemporary brand new personality.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-250369" title="Nodi Contemporanei by Loredana Bonora" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2012/09/dezeen_Nodi-Contemporanei-by-Loredana-Bonora_15.jpg" alt="Nodi Contemporanei by Loredana Bonora" width="468" height="608" /></p>
<p>Loredana is an Italian designer from Varese. She has been engaged for long time in a creative research that retrieves the traditional practice of the crochet to interpret the home furnishings in new ways. The use of non traditional yarns – such as plastic and raffia – and the experimenting of plot techniques with variable patterns, keep her updating this traditional handbuilt style with a contemporary taste.</p>

<p>Here is some more information from the designer:</p>
<hr />
<p>These slippers are constructed from a single piece of natural wool felt, their 3D form being created by complex 2D geometry of the pattern.</p>
<p><img title="Lasso Shoes by Gaspard Tiné-Berès at Show RCA 2012" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2012/06/dezeen_Lasso-Shoes-by-Gaspard-Tine-Beres-at-Show-RCA-2012-4.jpg" alt="Lasso Shoes by Gaspard Tiné-Berès at Show RCA 2012" width="468" height="347" /></p>
<p>The shapes are die-cut from sheets of 5mm thick felt with minimal, simple and affordable tooling - making this product very suitable for small-scale local production.</p>
<p><img title="Lasso Shoes by Gaspard Tiné-Berès at Show RCA 2012" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2012/06/dezeen_Lasso-Shoes-by-Gaspard-Tine-Beres-at-Show-RCA-2012-5.jpg" alt="Lasso Shoes by Gaspard Tiné-Berès at Show RCA 2012" width="468" height="346" /></p>
<p>The slippers are delivered flat-packed for assembly by the user by "sewing" the seams with the standard laces supplied in a colour of their choice.</p>
<p><img title="Lasso Shoes by Gaspard Tiné-Berès at Show RCA 2012" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2012/06/dezeen_Lasso-Shoes-by-Gaspard-Tine-Beres-at-Show-RCA-2012-8.jpg" alt="Lasso Shoes by Gaspard Tiné-Berès at Show RCA 2012" width="468" height="312" /></p>
<p>The act of self-assembling the slippers increases the sense of ownership and emotional connection with them and allows for personalisation through the choice of laces used.</p>
<p><img title="Lasso Shoes by Gaspard Tiné-Berès at Show RCA 2012" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2012/06/dezeen_Lasso-Shoes-by-Gaspard-Tine-Beres-at-Show-RCA-2012-9.jpg" alt="Lasso Shoes by Gaspard Tiné-Berès at Show RCA 2012" width="468" height="312" /></p>
<p>House and Gardens Scholarship helped my to invest in the die-cutting tools in order to produce a range in ten standard sizes that I will be selling directly via a dedicated website opening next september.</p>

<p>Designers <a href="http://www.not-tom.com/">Not Tom</a> have created an installation where coloured dye rises by capillary action out of paint tins and along tree branches wrapped in wool.<span id="more-162431"></span></p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-162689" title="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2011/10/dezeen_Wool-Modern-Installation-by-not-tom._01.jpg" alt="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p>Dyed in The Wool is a collaboration between Not Tom and <a href="http://www.deadfromtheback.com/">Loui Thomas</a> for the <a href="http://www.campaignforwool.org/woolmodern/">Wool Modern</a> exhibition at <a href="http://www.lagalleria.org/">La Galleria</a> on Pall Mall.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-162690" title="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2011/10/dezeen_Wool-Modern-Installation-by-not-tom._02.jpg" alt="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p>The movement of dye along each branch resembles the natural movement of water up trees.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-162692" title="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2011/10/dezeen_Wool-Modern-Installation-by-not-tom._04.jpg" alt="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p>The result is a gradient along each branch between the natural wool and the coloured dye.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-162693" title="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2011/10/dezeen_Wool-Modern-Installation-by-not-tom._05.jpg" alt="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p>Wrapping the 150 sticks and tree branches in wool took almost a month to complete.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-162694" title="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2011/10/dezeen_Wool-Modern-Installation-by-not-tom._06.jpg" alt="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p>The paint tins that the wool-wrapped branches sit in are arranged around the edges of the room. They are also installed in the gallery's windows and can also be found in the windows of Pringle of Scotland's shop on Sloane Street, London.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-162695" title="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2011/10/dezeen_Wool-Modern-Installation-by-not-tom._07.jpg" alt="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p>Other Dezeen stories involving wool include a system for <a href="http://www.dezeen.com/2009/10/21/wolplamuur-by-heleen-klopper/">mending holes in woollen fabric</a>, knitted <a href="http://www.dezeen.com/2011/07/11/safety-vase-by-hannah-niskanen-benady/">safety vases</a> and <a href="http://www.dezeen.com/2008/06/25/stream-of-light-by-olivia-lee-and-alienor-de-chambrier/">wrapped furniture</a>.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-162696" title="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2011/10/dezeen_Wool-Modern-Installation-by-not-tom._08.jpg" alt="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<p>Following a successful exhibition from 7 to 28 September for Wool Modern at <a href="http://www.lagalleria.org/">La Galleria</a> the installation is touring the world for the next year. It is currently at <a href="http://www.galeria-kaufhof.de/">Galleria KaufHof</a>, Alexanderplatz, Berlin.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-162698" title="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2011/10/dezeen_Wool-Modern-Installation-by-not-tom._10.gif" alt="Wool Modern Installation by Not Tom" width="468" height="326" /></p>
<p>Harry Osborne from Not Tom gives some more information on the project here:</p>
<hr />
<p>The show is part of Woolmark's campaign for wool and coincides with Wool Week.</p>
<p>Not Tom was commisioned by Woolmark and show curator Charlotte Lurot to create an original piece for inclusion in the Wool Modern exhibition in La Galleria, Pall Mall.</p>
<p>Our response to the brief for a wool themed installation to surround a room was our piece "Dyed In The Wool", created in collaboration with Loui Thomas.</p>
<p>The outside edges of the room are lined with assorted paint tins filled with various coloured dyes. Stood in each jar, and set at random angles are large sticks and sections of tree branches completely wrapped in natural wool top. If the wool is dampened, capillary action causes the coloured die to rise up the sticks, eventually forming a gradient from the natural colour of the wool to the bright colour of the dye.</p>
<p>The full effect of the installation is that of a strange woollen forest, with a subtle, colourful glow around the bottom of the room. We liked that the mummification in wool of the dead branches is juxtaposed by the capillary action re-creating the natural movement of water up a living branch. Meanwhile it acts as a demonstration of dyeing processes.</p>
<p>It was an arduous task to hand wrap the 150 sticks in wool, taking nearly a month to complete (and calling in lots of favours!) but we think the overall effect has been worth the effort.</p>
<p>The sticks have become something of a totem for the Campaign for Wool, with them also being installed in the gallery windows, the windows of Pringle of Scotland's Sloane Street shop and included in the promotional video for the exhibition in association with Harrods.</p>

<p><strong>Milan 2010:</strong> here are some more pictures of Dutch designer <a href="http://www.bertjanpot.nl/">Bertjan Pot</a>'s Jumper chair, launched by British brand <a href="http://www.establishedandsons.com/">Established &amp; Sons</a> in Milan last week. <span id="more-75382"></span></p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-75386" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/04/dzn_Jumper-by-Bertjan-Pot-3.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="450" /></p>
<p>The design features a knitted cover, created on a machine for making clothing and washed at a high temperature to shrink the wool.</p>

See all our stories about Milan 2010 <a href="http://www.dezeen.com/category/events/milan-2010-all/">here</a>.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-75389" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/04/dzn_Jumper-by-Bertjan-Pot-6.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="299" /></p>
<p>Here's a little text from Established &amp; Sons:</p>
<hr />
<p>Jumper consists of one continuous oversized woolen knitted cover, with qualities very much like that of a jumper, including buttons that fix the cover together on the underside of the chair, once the knitted cover is wrapped over the solid wooden structure and bent steel legs.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-75385" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/04/dzn_Jumper-by-Bertjan-Pot-2.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="450" /></p>
<p>The cover is knitted on a ‘Knit and Wear’ machine that is skilled for clothing garments, but this is where the fashion and design production processes divide.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-75384" src="http://static.dezeen.com/uploads/2010/04/dzn_Jumper-by-Bertjan-Pot-1.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="450" /></p>
<p>Once the garment is completed it is then run through a high degree wash to attain a seamless and upholstered effect eradicating most of the stretch from the wool but presenting a high quality fabric that layers the structure with precision and rigor.</p>
