The critically acclaimed designjunction is delighted to support contemporary design agent smallpond in a new and exciting project INTRO NY, set to launch during New York Design Week.
INTRO NY will be a capsule event featuring products from carefully selected design brands: Modus, Massproductions, Very Good & Proper, Castor Design, Council, neo-utility and Resident.
INTRO NY will be a vibrant place to do business, socialise and relax within the stunning surrounds of a contemporary gallery space. The interior will be configured into a series of intimate vignettes, each representing a different brand. There will also be a pop-up retail shop allowing visitors to browse the latest design accessories and purchase unique items for their home. In the courtyard there will be an outdoor café run by Brooklyn Roasting Company and a relaxing seating area for visitors to unwind.
Located in the fashionable Nolita district, INTRO NY is set to be a must-visit destination. Brands include:
Canadian brand Castor is a multidisciplinary design studio focusing on the middle ground between art and design. Established in 2006, Castor has worked on numerous interiors projects and public art commissions, as well as custom lighting and furniture designs.
Castor will launch two lighting products at INTRO NY- a steel pendant light ‘Fresnel’ and the lightweight task lamp ‘Coil Light’. Adding to their furniture collection, Castor will also launch the Tri- pod Table made from spun steel and supported by three oak legs.
Council, an American furniture manufacturer, was born from the notion of collaboration—its collections reflect the contributions of designers from around the world. The company produces singular pieces, and aims to make each one the purest expression of its original design concept. Council’s collection is created for discerning customers who value quality, craftsmanship, authenticity, and, above all, good design.
Council will introduce several new pieces at INTRO NY – details to come.
Massproductions was formed in Stockholm in 2009 by Swede Magnus Elebäck and Englishman Chris Martin. Massproductions set out to eliminate the barrier between designer and producer and has successfully taken control of the entire production chain in the company.
Massproductions are presenting a new chair this year, suitable for dining in restaurants and homes. Made in solid beech or oak, ‘The Waiter Chair’ is both comfortable and classic. The brand will also show their debut ‘Tio’ collection at INTRO NY, consisting of chairs and tables in steel wire produced in a computer controlled bending machine.
Founded in 2000 by Jon Powell and Ed Richardson, Modus is an award-winning British furniture manufacturer dedicated to producing the very best in contemporary international design.
Modus will present a selection of their latest products at INTRO NY including the multi-award winning shelving solution ‘Meta’, which has been redesigned since its launch in 2001 to offer greater flexibility. Also on show will be ‘Library’, a high back, compact and enveloping sofa that offers a degree of privacy and an element of noise reduction.
