Structure exhibition in Milan to bring together work from 26 Norwegian designers

Milan 2016: homeware and furniture from a range of Norwegian designers including Andreas Engesvik and Lars Beller Fjetland will go on display at the Structure exhibition in Milan's Ventura Lambrate district next month (+ slideshow).

Contributors were selected from a wide range of design disciplines, and were invited to create objects around the theme of either "structure" or "trace".

Engesvik has designed a patinated bronze vase, based around the shapes found in Oslo's Vigeland Park sculpture garden. Plants and flowers can either rest in the vase, or be entwined around its upper framework.

A set of cutlery from Beller Fjetland will also be shown, produced in partnership with Theodor Olsen Sølvvareverksted – Norway's oldest silverware manufacturer.

The collection is based on an unused design from the 1950s, and takes its shape from the heart-shaped leaves of the monstera plant, which it is also named after. The range features contrasting spoons, designed as mirror images of one another, and irregular handles.

Oslo studio Kneip – who created miniature motorised sculptures for Vienna Design Week 2015 – have contributed a flexible steel work lamp, and a sculpture from their Loen series, which reflects on the power of nature.

Textiles will also be on display, with Copenhagen designer Martin Solem creating a set of patterned fabrics for the show, based on natural materials such as Norwegian granite.

Other highlights will include Anette Krogstad's series of hand-thrown stoneware, glazed with several layers to resemble the texture and colour of lichens, and Barmen & Brekke's set of ribbed clay and turned wood candleholders.

Structure follows a similar show held at Milan last year, which also highlighted Norwegian designers' contribution to Scandinavian design by showcasing range of products.

The exhibition was curated by interior stylists Kråkvik & D'Orazio, alongside Residence magazine editor-in-chief Hanna Nova Beatrice. The products will be on display in Milan's Ventura Lambrate district from 12 to 17 April 2016, as part of the city's annual design week.
