BIG founder Bjarke Ingels speaks to curator Hans Ulrich Obrist about the architecture of museums, in this talk Dezeen hosts with Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet in Venice.

Ahead of the opening of BIG's Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet in 2020, Ingels speaks to Obrist and Audemars Piguet's historian Michael Friedman about the conceptualisation and construction of museums.
BIG is designing the museum for the luxury watch brand at its alpine headquarters in Vallée de Joux, Switzerland. The practice has designed a partially sunken pavilion that coils upwards from the landscape.
The studio has worked on a succession of museum projects. It completed the subterranean Tirpitz Museum in Blavand, Denmark, by carving channels into a sand dune adjacent to a bunker built during the second world war. BIG also recently revealed a competition entry for an art gallery in Adelaide, Australia.
Obrist is artistic director of the Serpentine Gallery in London, which hosted a pavilion designed by Ingels in 2016.
