Studios of Dutch architecture firms including OMA, MVRDV and UNStudio revealed in photos

The latest set of images from photographer Marc Goodwin offers a look inside 17 prolific architects' studios in the Netherlands.

OMA, MVRDV and UNStudio are among the Dutch firms whose studios feature in the new images by Goodwin, founder of photo agency Archmospheres.

They form the latest instalment in a series documenting architects' studios from all around the world, which has previously seen the photographer travel to Dubai, Paris, London, Barcelona, Beijing, Shanghai and the Nordic countries.

Goodwin said that shooting in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, home to some of the biggest names in architecture, was a series highlight.

"It was a big thrill to actually walk around OMA," he told Dezeen. "I felt like a groupie. In fact, I stared like a crazed fan when Reinier de Graaf walked passed me."

The photographer said he found the country so easy to traverse that covering two cities in one go was a breeze.

"The country is small and the trains are amazing. It really was like travelling around Beijing or Shanghai or any one big city – except that it was a lot easier. In fact, I can confidently say this was the easiest and most pleasant of all of the studio stories I've shot so far," he said.

Goodwin's series has been driven in part by his curiosity to see which architecture studios have the nicest offices. In the Netherlands, he found some new contenders for his ultimate top five, including the workplaces of Studioninedots and Kaan Architecten.

"MVRDV was one of the most beautiful and well-laid-out studios I've been to," he said. "But I also really loved Studio 9 Dots and the elegance of Kaan."

However the studio with the best backstory, according to Goodwin, is Rotterdam office ZUS, which co-founders Elma van Boxel and Kristian Koreman squatted in before they won permission to develop it.

"Now it is a design hub, and even has a cafe and rooftop garden," he said. "They've been there for something like 18 years and their kids were born there, if I'm not mistaken. Quite a story!"
