Kata chair by Altherr Désile Park for Arper

Dezeen Showroom: Barcelona design studio Altherr Désile Park has created a lounge chair for Arper that is made of solid wood and takes inspiration from traditional woven straw chairs.

The Kata armchair combines a frame made of oak or black locust wood with an upholstered back and seat, which are unified to form a singular unit.

Kata has a wooden frame and upholstery made from recycled plastic yarn

Kata's upholstery is available in a variety of colours and striped, 3D knitted finishes that mimic the unique pattern of woven cane chairs.

The fabric is made from post-consumer plastic waste that is recycled and woven into yarn, using a technology that can produce one kilogram of yarn per kilogram of PET waste.
