Still/Moving installs No New Worlds artwork alongside COP26 conference site

A 70-metre-long and six-metre-high artwork stating that there are No New Worlds has been installed at Graving Docks in Glasgow, directly opposite the main COP delegate zone.

Created by the Still/Moving art collective, the illuminated sign aims to highlight the links between climate change and colonisation.

"Still/Moving believe that patterns that mark colonisation: expansion, exploitation and extraction have brought us to this pivotal ecological moment," said Still/Moving artist Léonie Hampton.

"We believe it is critical to constantly question the myth of infinite growth on a finite planet."

Large UK companies will have to make net-zero transition plans by 2023

Under proposed UK Treasury rules set to be announced today, large UK firms, including all those with shares listed on the London Stock Exchange, will have to make plans showing how they intend to move to net-zero.

According to the BBC, the companies "will have to set out detailed public" net-zero transition plans by 2023.

Can cities save the planet? event takes place today

The International Union of Architects (UIA) kicks off its program of events at COP26 today with a panel discussion titled Can cities save the planet?

The panel will feature talks from former American Institute of Architects president Thomas Vonier and Ishtiaque Zahir Titas, co-founder of Bangladesh studio Vitti Sthapati Brindo.

The Colour of the Climate Crisis online exhibition opens 

Launched to coincide with COP26, The Colour of the Climate Crisis is an exhibition showcasing the work of 24 Black artists and artists of colour that aims to explore the relationship between racial justice and climate justice.

"The Colour of the Climate Crisis grapples with one of those truths: that we are facing a crisis of climate and nature, and that the people most affected, most at risk and least responsible for it are people of colour," said the exhibition organisers.

ACAN's Deconstructing Carbon event takes place today

The latest event hosted by climate activist group Architects Climate Action Network (ACAN) is called Deconstructing Carbon.

It takes place today as a physical event at Many Studios in Glasgow and online, and will feature Waugh Thistleton Architects founder Andrew Waugh and regenerative design manager at dRMM Kat Scott.
