BA (Hons) Product Design at University of East London

The BA (Hons) Digital Product Design course at the University of East London introduces students to product design with an emphasis on responding to real-world challenges.

BA (Hons) Digital Product Design at UEL is a future-focused degree that prepares students to become professional product designers equipped to thrive in an evolving creative industry. Combining hands-on craftsmanship with advanced digital technologies, the course enables students to explore innovative design approaches that respond to real-world challenges.

From the outset, you will develop skills in user-centred design, prototyping, digital fabrication and design thinking, while engaging critically with the social and environmental impact of the products you create. The course balances creative exploration with technical proficiency, fostering experimentation across materials, platforms and emerging technologies.

The curriculum emphasises cross-disciplinary collaboration—traits essential to understanding the needs of users and creating meaningful design solutions. You will work on practical projects that build your ability to research, ideate and produce digital and physical products, from concept to prototype.

Taught within East London's dynamic design scene and supported by expert staff and industry links, the programme opens pathways into a wide range of careers, from conventional product design and industrial design to digital fabrication and entrepreneurship.

Graduates leave with a future-ready portfolio and the confidence to make a lasting impact through digital product design with access to both analogue workshops (metal, plaster, ceramics and wood-shop) to a state of the art digital fabrication lab.
