Emma studied English Literature at Exeter University before pursuing a career as a journalist. She became interested in design after joining the editorial team at Creative Review, where she worked for two years. 

Emma has also contributed to various online and print titles on a freelance basis, as well as working with type foundry Monotype to oversee the relaunch of their 100-year-old print magazine The Recorder. 

She joined Dezeen as design reporter in 2015, working alongside deputy editor (design) Dan Howarth to grow the title's coverage of innovative projects and agenda-setting news.
